I just don't see much to say this team is any good. There is no continuity in our offensive possessions. I guarantee you we shot a 3 10 seconds into the shot clock on at least 15 possessions. It's live or die by the 3 right now.

Positives though are that Osby is going to be a beast and I think Bost is going to be very good. I just wish Augustus would get out of the doghouse.

Plain and simply I can't name one thing we do above average as a team right now. Most of what we do is below average from what I see. I don't mind jacking up 3's 10 seconds into the shot clock if they are good, wide-open set shots, but most of the time they aren't.

Why don't you do as I do ? Sit back , enjoy a victory and leave all the analysis to someone that knows what they are actually talking about?

It's over for him. No attempt what so ever on the boards and defense plus you don't say "I'm a shooter not a defensive player". It's called team work and he want do everything needed. Don't expect to see him much or any the rest of the year.

Regardless, we are a very young team with talent, Bost, Osby and Beckham will be really good players, it'll take time but Stans is looking for the right 8 man rotation.

It like watching our football team against someone like Murray State. We win convincingly but it still doesnt change the outlook.

If that's the case, it's going to be a long, long season. We haven't had a good 3-point shooting team since 1996. We've had a couple of good 3-point shooters since then, but not nearly enough.

As for me, I didn't see or listen to the game, so I'm not saying much; however, we held Houston to 27 percent shooting. Was that more poor shot selection on the part of the Cougars or good defense by the Bulldogs?

I think it was good defense. People criticize Barry, but his defense was intense today. His shot is not falling, but he played well. As did the rest of the team. If they can continue to improve, then we'll have a decent team at the end of the season.

Today was a glorified pick up game by both teams. We just happened to be the home team that had the shots fall. it was a very sloppy game. If you are encouraged by this performance, then you obviously are satisfied with the yearly NIT appearance.

I'm in agreement with DS. We're pretty bad, because we won't shoot the 3 like that every night.... So, it'll hurt us down the road

Thank you to Houston for forcing us to play the style of basketball that we should be playing every night. We don't have a low post scorer. We don't have a half court offense. We do have a ton of athletes who run the floor very well. Houston played up tempo so we blew them out. If they played a half court style like Washington State or San Diego, we would have lost again. Because we all know the tempo will be dictated by our opponent.

I looked at their schedule. Sprinkled in with their win over Louisville, they have a 28-point loss to Murray, a 32-point loss to Evansville, and a loss to Houston.

It is anybody's guess as to what is going to happen Monday night.

For the most part, we need to play as hard as we did today. There was a lot of effort in the game today.

Any team that wants to play cement court Brooklyn ball with a Stanbury team is usually going to get run out of the gym.

But if a team runs a disciplined half court game that slows us down & makes us rely on coaching strategy to win, we usually lose those games.

Although I don't know dawg schiess about basketball, or maybe just a little bit, based on what I've seen so far, this won't be a good year for MSU hoops.

As always, I hope I'm wrong.

Lets put this little myth to rest right now. Augustus is currently 2nd on the team in rebounds per minute. Meaning, when he has actually seen court time, he rebounds at a higher rate than everyone else on the team besides Jarvis. That stat makes everything equal and actually shows who rebounds when they get playing time. And Kodi rebounds.

Please let this die here and now.

*****, *****, *****, ***** every year about this time......*****, *****, *****, ***** throughout the year......low and behold we win the SEC West (again) or SEC Tournament or go to the SEC Tournamet finals, go to the NIT Semis, lose at the buzzer to the team that had the National Championship slip from their fingers....etc., etc. - AT MISSISSIPPI STATE.

go take a Midol, put a heating pad on your lady parts, and try to think about that for a second.......unfortunately at Miss. State, we are a big time underdog (we are not UNC, Duke, Florida, UK, Arizona, etc. - and likely never, ever will be). Stansbury's accomplishments as an assistant and an HC are phenomenal for where he is, and I am very glad to have him here. do you really think the "name" Miss. State would bring coaching and playing talent??? the talent is coming to play for Stansbury, not for the "tradition rich" MSU program - give Stans another 10 years, and he may be able to change that.

for now, I'm going to attend the games, support the team and coach, and watch our young team get better. while I don't think it is likely, I would not be surprised to see us in post-season play yet again.
