<div class="messagebody"> Dear Greg, Sylvester, Woody,
We have a problem.
We have had a problem for the past 5 years. Our offense is not getting any better. We are not improving. We are not making progress.
I am a long time season ticket holder. I am a long time Bulldog Club member. I am a season ticket holder in baseball. I live in Augusta, GA, but I have and will continue to support my/our bulldogs. I do bleed maroon and white ... but quite frankly, I am tired of the bleeding.
I ordered away game tickets for GA Tech and Tennessee. As I mentioned earlier I already have season tickets for all of our home games. We should have 7 not 6 home games, but that's another issue.
I traveled with friends from Augusta, who are Ga Tech fans, tailgated before and after the game ...... really looking for a competitive effort ..... we did not give that efffort. I think our team gave that effort at times, but our coaching .... guys, we've got to get better.
The game starts out terrible .... GA Tech drives down the field for a touchdown, seemingly at will, and doing whatever their spread/option offense needs. We get stopped, and they do it again ..... it really looks like a long day .... but then Dixon breaks a long run, is caught from behind, and we start at the 10 yard line.
We get to the 5, and then run another play to to the 1 yard line....
There is a penalty ..... we have a decision. 2nd and 2 or 3rd and 1.
Coach, this is a no brainer..... you take the 2nd and 2. I realize that in the heat of battle, and with folks on the sideline telling you what to do it can be confusing ..... but there should be some coach in the pressbox telling you ..... coach take the 2nd and 2.
What a mistake ...... and it cost us. However, if you think this is the right call .... ok, I might even give you that gut feeling .. but if you decide to go for it on 3rd and 1, and turn down an opportunity at 2nd and 2, then obviously you think we can make it 1 yard ... well, if you think that - then have the guts to go for it on 4th and 1.
Obviously the field goal did not work ...... blocked, on a play that quite frankly should be automatic.... it is not for MSU.
I'll come back to that 1 yard issue later on .....
Then before half time that whole 1:23 seconds was about as poor a process of clock management as I have ever seen. Quite frankly, we have not been very good at clock management for several years.
Again, I realize that in the heat of battle it is sometimes confusing .... however, there should be a coach in the pressbox telling you/us that we have a problem. After we got a penalty ... one of two in a row by the way .... the players on the field did not realize that the clock started after the ball was put into play after the penalty ....
Once again, I realize that the players on the field who are getting their brains beat in, are not always the best to judge a situation ..... and they in fact could forget this fact ..... however, it is no excuse for our coaching staff to not remind them, that the clock will start as soon as the referee sets the ball down ... so don't go into a huddle and spend precious seconds thinking the clock is not running.
Guys, there is no other thing to say........ this is poor coaching.
I am a VP of Information Technology, and if after five years my offense or my progression had not improved, and I made these type of mental errors .... I would be fired.
Let me state right here that I am not asking for anyone to be fired .... however, everyone is accountable. As a Bulldog Club member, as a season ticket holder, as an alumnus of MSU, I expect and deserve better .....
This West Coast Offense is not working. Woody McCorvey is not making progress, changes need to be made ...... wait, you say it takes time ..... what about the offense we faced today ... these are coaches who are at their 1st year at GA Tech. Inexperienced players .... guys, so many other teams play freshmen and sophmores these days ,...... GA Tech even used their 2nd string quarterback, after their starter went down ...... we just can't keep using that excuse ... what about the players we were going to get more in the offense today .... where was he.
Yes, I am frustrated. I am embarresed.
La Tech loss. Come on, I do expect more than that.
Tennessee tickets I mentioned earlier ...... I don't think so ....... maybe, but not tonight ......
I am just tired of a lack of effort.
Not from the players, I think they are trying as hard as they can.
3rd and 1, 4th and 1, many times GA Tech did not even have a nose guard lined up over the center .... do we not even have a quarterback sneak play in our playbook. For the love of MSU, can we not give this a try at least once ..... Give our guys a chance to win. 119 Division 1 schools would have at least given this play a try over the past 2 ball games .......
Clock management, poor decisions on accepting penalties, staying with an offensive scheme that has been in the bottom 5% of ALL Division 1 teams for the past 5 years ......
What do we have to do to change. Why won't we change ......
I would just like an answer ......
Every job has a time when you need to be accountable ......
You guys need to be accountable ......
Tell us what is going to be different, not the same old same old .....
But, what is going to change, what is going to different.
Doing the same old thing, and expecting different results ....
That is what fools and losers do .....
I expect better than that.
For all MSU fans and supporters.... we deserve and demand better than that.
I sincerely wish that at least one of the 3 of you would give me an answer.
Maybe some of you reading this know how to pass this along or how to forward to Greg, Sylvester, and Woody. If so, thanks for sending this along .....
Again, I am a Bulldog supporter ..... I know this letter is very negative .... but what I saw today ...... was very negative .... we have got to do better!
Thanks in advance for whatever answer you wish to send to all of the MSU Supporters. Quite frankly, I believe that we deserve an answer .. What is going to change. If we are going to continue down this same path .... we will fail. We have proven this fact .... Bottom 5% in offense is not good enough. You are accountable.
