how talented we are...I've heard a thousand times- "their starting 5 is as talented as any in the conference"

Why does this talented team have so much trouble then? What could be the big problem? Why are the TV announcers mentioning about how we just stand still so much?

IT"S TIME!!!!!

Just curious, coach. Do you think we are as talented, from a team standpoint, as this board and others perceive us to be?

slightly over-rated talent, lack of a strength and conditioning program, and ****** coaching.

The talent is not living up to expectations due to not being worked hard enough in the weightroom and lack of coaching.

I'd be shocked if Ray-vern could squat 225 10 times

This team is not that talented. Then the few players that are talented, allow their attitude, to disrupt their ability.

Bost - extremely talented.
Shug - talented but head case and lazy
Augustus - talented but head case
Johnson - only plays offense
Benock - not athletic enough

Lewis - showing potential but improvement is very slow.
Steele - decent for a freshman

So, if you really look at the talent level........it isn't there.

Believe we have slightly overrated talent. I do believe they are given too much credit and not enough blame most of the time. However, I do believe we hsve adequate talent to compete in the conference. With all that being said I would trade some of that talent for a little more team oriented, smart playing athletes. But I guess that goes back to coaching. Damn I just backed myself into a stansbury jab.

Problem is we can't keep them all on the court....and our subs are pathetic.
If Sidney hadn't sat the whole first half it would be a closer game.

we have one genuinely talented player and that is Dee. He is exceptional. That is it.

And there is not much behind them. That should say it all. If that is not enough to convince you then say 'john Riek plays valuable minutes for us'.

is this the best the sanderson center has to offer? jj, but on the bright side, at least we didn't get humiliated on national tv.

Why do our players retreat to the other goal whenever a shot is put up? I just saw Sidney watch a shot go up and he started walking toward half court as soon as the ball left the Alabama shooter's hand. Sure enough the ball landed where he WAS in the lane and Bama got the rebound. It's the stupidest **** I have ever seen and it drives me crazy

we rebounded well. It's also why we allow so much scoring. Because he coached that well in the past too.

You see, he's just taking a year off from having the kids actually participate in the things that win games. He accidentally recruited kids incapable of following a shot, fighting for a rebound or getting in the face of the shooter.

Defense, rebounding and steals are just like shooting percentage. sometimes the shots just dont fall. Just like sometimes you dont feel like going for a rebound.

Anyone can see that<div>
</div><div>Bost is a legit threat</div><div>
</div><div>Sidney can be unstoppable on offense, Benock and Johnson can shoot, Augustus is good</div><div>
</div><div>We have no bench because Stans ran off everyone worth a damn that could play significant minutes off the bench</div><div>
</div><div>Bailey should be getting Riek's minutes, Osby or Turner could start in place of Benock who would be a good piece coming off the bench.</div><div>
</div><div>It is apparent our players have tuned Stans out, and who can blame them after the shitshow that is Sidney.</div><div>
</div><div>We should be running a dribble drive offense, letting Bost take his man off the dribble, with Johnson and Benock spotted up and Augustus and Sidney on the blocks waiting for dump offs.</div>

but we aren't that talented. Benock should be a coming off the bench at best. Riek should never play. Ravern can have a terrible shooting night and still get 35 minutes of playing time. "The Recruiter" is having a bad season because of his recruiting. I agree, its time. If the money is there for the buyout, I would do it right before the conference tournament.

that Alabama is what Stan's teams used to look like...great on defense, shittastic on offense. Now they are just shittastic.

And it comes with some seriously bad attitudes and piss poor work ethic. I agree on your other points. This team needs a complete purge from the top on down. If next year's recruiting class comes into this kind of atmosphere, it'll ruin them.</p>

sure they have bad attitudes, but at some point that has to fall on the coach. We don't have one (a coach). He doesn't know what the 17 he is doing on offense. Not a clue. He is lost. The players can see that and they don't respect him b/c of it. This leads to a lot of the problems. Not all of them but it just adds fuel to the fire.

<span style="font-weight: bold;">The problem is our bench and coaching. Stans has run off 4 players in the last year in Osby, Turner, Bailey, & Tranny. We really could use the first three guys and it is showing. Just imagine if we just had Osby and Turner this year, starting over Ravern and Benock.</span><br style="font-weight: bold;">
Dee is one of the best point guards in the SEC. Kodi leads the SEC in double doubles. The RSS has more talent on offense than anyone ever at MSU, but he doesn't play defense or hustle. Ravern is talented on offense, but still plays no defense. Benock should be on the bench with Steele starting.

Fishwater would know more than me if any of the new guys are the same old head cases Stans has signed the past few years or not. I have no idea.

history tells me to start expecting facebook and twitter updates from them about lack of playing time, personal issues with the coach, leaving the team, coming back to the team, etc.

That's the response I get every time I criticize him. And even if that is true, he's our biggest liability at the guard position on offense. I don't care if he has a decent 3-pt % (I have no idea what it is) --- he is horrible with the ball. Every time he gets the ball, he's looking to get rid of it as soon as possible... even if he just hands it off to Ravern who's 5 foot from him. Whatever position we're in when he gets the ball - whether good or bad - we're usually worse off after he passes it. He's one guy who really is better off just standing around on offense.

And please, for the love of all that's holy, don't let Benock bring the ball up the court. Ever.
