For the same reason I watch the RedZone channel. It was better TV when CBS would cut back and forth to thecompetitivegames. Just like the Olympics...I only wanna see the good ****. Don't ask me to watch a Duke/Duquesne blowout or 30 mins of womens shotput. Make it easy for the viewer. This is just an advertising money grab since any basketball game will probably out-rate any programing on TruTV. They aren't doing this for the benefit of the viewers.

So you'd rather not have the opportunity to flip to another game. You'd rather not have the opportunity to watch a game that isn't being shown in your region?

Yeah, and shame on Turner for wanting to show something that will get higher ratings. Capitalist pigs.

This way YOU get to choose which games to flip back and forth to and when, not the network. Or you may want to watch one game completely even though it's not that close of a game. Seriously, saying this sucks is just stupid.

It is literally the primary reason why I have DTV instead of Dish. I never even considered Dish because they didn't have the Mega March Madness package. For people like me, that playing field just got a whooooole lot more level.

Any guesses as to the number of games in HD? Anything less than "all of them" is unacceptable.

His arguement about wanting CBS to be the "remote control police" for the games is just flat out wrong... The only people the old system helps are people who don't follow a certain team (and won't be mad when a game is switched) or people who are too old to figure out remote controls and technology (and can flip between games quickly - I'll be setting those 4 channels up on my favorites and will only need two clicks to navigate from game to game).

Cowherd swung and missed on this. Just because Kansas is winning by 40, doesn't mean that Kansas fans don't want to watch the 3rd stringers get in.

All the channels have HD programming, so I don't see why they wouldn't. This is Turner and CBS, not Raycom. Speaking of Raycom, and by extension WJTV, what does Comcast have on these guys? I called last night to see where they had moved the game, and apparently whatever channel it was is only available to Comcast subscribers. And it was a local management decision. It didn't come from higher up. So again, does Comcast have pictures of the WJTV managers screwing livestock or something?

if you had WJTV over the air - you could have picked it up. It was on one of their digital tier channels like 12.3 or something like that.

Exactly. When MSU plays a Monmouth in round 1, they are going to cut away as soon as the score gets beyond a 10 point margin. And if playing a Memphis or Duke, even if we are within 8 on that game, they'll cut away to a game that's coming down to a potential buzzer beater. Then stick with that through the 5 timeouts inevitably that are called within 20 seconds of game action & they still won't cut back to the original game.

to me, its great and I can't wait to have the freedom to pick and choose any game I wish.

We live in America... show it... and allow us to pick if we want to watch the end of a blowout, or the first few minutes of an 8 vs 9 game. I am also very excited to see games on TBS, TNT and TruTV. It's just something new to me.

I do feel like they will be quality broadcasts since they are sharing the commentators and broadcast rights with (the usual) CBS.

Cowherd can kiss my ***. This is great news and a good find.

I should have prefaced my comments that I was taking the angle of the casual college bball fan (much like myself). For the diehards (the minority) this IS great.

Who will now have to punch a button on your remote control.

I suit up for games. Black tie it for the Final Four.

I have always hated the way CBS does it. This is great news and I will be taking off from work for sure now on those first two days. How hard is it to push a button on the remote? You must not have one of those...

Just seems like NCAA basketball is fading away. Didn't big games use to be on CBS during the week? Now its getting beat by talent contests.<div>

I'm as big of a college hoops fan as you can find, and outside of the NCAAs, I don't have any recollection of a midweek game on CBS in the past 30 years. There were probably times when local CBS affiliates bumped network programming to show a JP broadcast on a Wednesday night, but that's not a CBS telecast.

I'm going to downgrade you from "casual fan" to "uninterested observer."

So, are we to assume that CBS won't cut away for a few minutes and show an exciting end to a game on one of the other channels? I don't know the details, but I would be surprised if CBS (who's in the driver's seat with March Madness) didn't allow themselves the ability to cut to other games, much like they've done in the past.

ABC and NBC had games on Saturday afternoons. Still sad the highest viewed basketball game was the 1979 championship. understandablethough.

They'll let you know what's happening, maybe have a split screen or something, but you'll have to change the channel to watch it. After all, while some people might want to have it cut in for them, some people might not want the game they are watching get interrupted.

Directv will also have the Game Mix channel with up to four games in HD all on one screen and an Interactive bracket channel to keep track of your progress and automatic updates.

Even more cred to the whole "How could this suck?" argument. I am just scratching my head trying to see any negatives here... From the first thing I read about this, it seemed like a great idea because it would prevent (for the most part) any unwanted interruptions, cutaways, etc. and the CASUAL fans would most likely appreciate that. For the DIEHARDS, it spreads the games out which = more game watching. Win/Win situation here. And if Directv (and hopefully the rest) have features like this available to track the tourney, then they may have stumbled upon a great way to present the tournament and make everyone happy.
