RT @UKCoachCalipari: Brandon Knight is a warrior on and off the court and is as driven as any other player that I’ve ever coached.
RT @UKCoachCalipari: The possibility of Brandon having a year of credits before he enters college is unbelievable and he also has a 4.3 GPA.

RT @wildcats: Officially, Brandon Knight has signed a financial aid offer to play at Kentucky.
RT @wildcats: Financial aid offer is not the same as a LOI. I'm trying to make sure I have the differences straight before I tell you any more than that.

I thought you couldn't mention a recruit's name unless he signed a LOI?

Normal classes
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1

Advanced classes
A=5
B=4
C=3
D=2

If someone made straight A's, theoritically took all 16 available advanced courses, and the 8 remaining credits were regular classes, they would have a 4.667 GPA.

16 x 5 = 80
+ (8*4)=32
112/24=4.667 GPA (technical highest)

So a 4.3 is pretty solid.

If not, then yes it's a recruiting violation to tweet about a prospective player. Think Lane Kiffin last year when one of the athletic department members made a Tweet on Kiffin's twitter saying something about being excited about a certain recruit committing.

I'd guess Knight has already signed, but I don't follow basketball recruiting closely enough to know.

back in my day (shakes fist, runs kids off lawn) A's were worth 4.0, but AP classes had a 10 point scale for grading (as opposed to 8 points for the regular classes).
Most college admissions have a box for OUT OF __ next to the GPA __ for this reason.
Will this guy be asked to do his teammates homework? Probably.

a financial aid offer, which doesn't ty him to UK if Cal leaves for the Nets....
fin aid just means if he goes to an SEC school he can't get fin aid from that school...

Of course, if Kiffin's incident is the precedent, I'm pretty sure the end result is a secondary violation at most, and they still get to sign Knight. So basically, it would be nothing.
