NRA, all real sportsmen like President Bush quit that organization long ago, it ain't about gun rights it's about lobbying for the gun industry. Only pussies worry someone will take their guns.
Question from a legal idiot.....Didn't we already have an assault weapon ban? Did it not survive legal challenges?

It did, but it was different. The prior banned specific attributes of the gun. So the gunmakers went just shy of those attributes. AR's were still available, just not with a green button (stupid example, no time to look it up).
This one is different banning the look and feel.
OK. I honestly don't know. Just bothers me that any gun related measure immediately has a world is ending, we all gon die reaction. It did, but it was different. And you're right, any tweaking of gun laws, regardless how small or trivial, is indeed ungod-like and will be met with apocalyptic fury.OK. I honestly don't know. As it should, just like any inference of interfering with any other amendment to the Constitution should be met with equal apocalyptic fury. Recent discussions surrounding the Press come to mind.Working in the natural resource world, I'm surrounded by people with LOTS of guns. Yeah well, the gun crowd is a little nervous. Walk through a Cabelas and shout the words 'background check' and you'll see a stampede heading toward the gun counter. As it should, just like any inference of interfering with any other amendment to the Constitution should be met with equal apocalyptic fury. Make the comment that fake news is the enemy of the people and all of the sudden news organizations are ammending quotes and riling up the rubes that our President is attacking the 1st amendment. At least one promotes commerce.Yeah well, the gun crowd is a little nervous. Walk through a Cabelas and shout the words 'background check' and you'll see a stampede heading toward the gun counter.
