For several days now, I have had 4-5 different people tell me that a
prominent, Cigar smoking Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation member, was
removed from his position as President of a Bank in a small Delta town
for paying "monthly stipends" to Ole Miss recruits and football players
out of his bank revenue by the FDIC. For the uninformed, the Federal
Deposit Insurance Corporation, is a Federal agency responsible for
maintaining the solvency and proper management of banks in the United
States of America. Recipients of these monthly personal checks, were
made out to specific recruits and players. The funds include South
Panola recruits wanted by Ole Miss and "several" current players at Ole
Miss. If this is true, not only is this a "death penalty" warranted
violation of NCAA rules, but a violation of Federal Law. From what I
understand the Bank President has already been removed from his
position, and will be facing a Grand Jury once the FDIC investigation
is finished. Has anyone else heard of this issue? Is this fact or
fiction? I have heard from a former Banker, with contacts in the banks in the Delta
say this is FACT! So, is this FACT or FICTION?

Am I just really naive? The way the NCAA has been cracking down lately, are all major schools, including us, really handing out cash?

I've been thinking that you pretty much have to recruit legitimately because the NCAA is on sucha tear.

Seriously- First of all, NO ONE is ever going to get the death penalty ever again, and I have some doubt that anyone in the SEC is ever going to get put on probation again to. That includes Ole Miss AND MSU.

Plus, I don't know that probation really even hurts people that much if they manage it correctly, which we did not.

I say we get to cheating.

...your well connected. You know who I am talking about. I have even sent the man $100.00 on a bet I made with him. I am sure he "crowed" on Ole Miss boards about that. In fact, I used to have regular e-mail "conversations" with him. Go on, you can tell us, he was led away from the Bank in handcuffs, you know who it is...

Why don't you give us a name if you are convinced this is going on? That's what I thought. <div>

Arrests are public record. Why don't you just tell us what bank president was arrested?

If this is all true, there is no way Ole Miss escapes this. No way.

....I had always wondered what that little FDIC sticker meant at the bank drive thru. Thanks for explaining that, Backer. I feel like my money is safer now.

either say it or don't. If you don't want to spread a rumor, don't talk about it.
