What's wrong with the Georgia Dome? And has it been paid for?

EDIT:

Answer:

The Falcons are required to play at the Georgia Dome until the roughly $100 million of its still-outstanding construction bonds are paid off, which could happen as soon as 2018. The only identified funding source for the new stadium so far is an estimated $300 million that would come from the same hotel-motel tax that has been used to retire debt on the Georgia Dome. The state legislature last year approved an extension of the tax to 2050, specifically to help fund a new home field for the Falcons.

NFL officials have told the Falcons if they ever want to host another super bowl then they will get a new stadium. To answer your question - I have no idea what is wrong with the Georgia Dome. It can't be more than 20 years old at most.

it's not just for the falcons. atl wants to stay at the top of the list for the sec cg, final 4s, super bowls, CFB playoff games, etc. they are competing against the new cowboy's stadium and the new dome in phoenix. nola catches a break on the stadium because of the awesomeness of nola for a big sporting event/party. and atl doesn't have the natural draw for CFB playoff games/super bowls that socal and miami might have with the 70+ degree winter weather, sunshine, and beaches.

Even in future unfunded plans of the building, they ***** themselves to Twitter

Twitter has to love all the free advertising and loyalty- they are advertised all over stadiums for free and teams cant get enough of the opportunity to drive their fans to Twitter...for free. Its the only free advertising in pro sports at this point. You want to advertise your landscaping service or insurance group in a stadium? Itll cost ya. But Twitter gets their product front and center on the courts and advertising displays all for free because teams are stumbling over themselves in excitement over the chance to display @ and # phrases while giving useage and free advertising away.

The stadium looks like a rose from above.

Odd.

Arthur Blank / Falcons are paying for $ 750 mil of the $ 1 billion price tag .... the city is on the hook for $ 300 mil ....... and absolutely nothing is wrong with the current GA Dome ..... concrete never reaches it's complete hardness, it continues to harden ... I remember bidding the steel framing in 1993 - 20 years of depreciation at an incredible rate ?

As for why build it, why not. Arthur Blank has the money and Atlanta is just pimp that way. And thank god they didn't raise my property taxes to pay for it!

Probably will be very nice, and it's certainly futuristic ... and it's also ugly. The couple of times I went to the Ga Dome, I saw nothing wrong with it. Of course, I didn't see anything wrong with Turner Field either.

I suppose the nicer concourses and the additional elite seating is what they're aiming for, but it seems like a waste of money to me. And I think many Atlanteans/suburbanites feel the same way.
