So they are doing 1 bracket of 64 teams? I thought it was 1 bracket of 32.
So essentially a round is being added to the playoffs?
I just noticed that the 3 teams Tarboro played in the Eastern playoffs (Manteo, Holmes, and Louisburg) will all be moving up to 2A. I guess the 1A East is getting even weaker.
I will be curious to see how Holmes does in 2A. I love their style of play and with the right talent they could be a very tough out. Of course, they are probably glad to be done with Tarboro for a while.
TD Friday night posted a link that had Kinston in 1a. Hopefully that's the case. And last time Edenton was in 2a they played for states.
Eastern Randolph would have played in the 1A/2A conference with Cummings, BY, Graham, Jordan-Matthews, North Moore, Chatham Central and Seaforth had the state not implemented the East/West ruling, Randolph and chatham counties border and are part of the dividing line. This ER got stuck into the 1A/2A conference as the lone 1A playing football team. Zero the Wildcats could do about it, typical crazy state moves which often lack common sense. Actually it’s a move from them having to do as much work.

Kinston is not going to be 1A the realignment is final. They are 2A
64 teams have always made the playoffs every year except for this spring when they cut it in half for the covid season. Now it's going back to 64 the way it always has been except now no 32 team 1a bracket and 32 team 1aa bracket. It's just a 64 team bracket.
Thomasville has been competing in a 10 team 2A league with 45 kids that has produced three finals appearances and a state Champion the last four years. The Dogs lost some close games to those teams going 8-4, 8-4, 3-3 the last three seasons. The Dogs were conference Champs in 2015 beating N Rowan and Salisbury to win the league title at the 2A level. They have an excellent coaching staff and a better group of athletes than the 2015 team with more size up front. If they can play N Davidson, Ledford, Salisbury, and Oak Grove tight (beating a few of those schools along the way) then 1A will be good to them.
ER has been a really good team in 2A as well and went pretty deep this year and have a few major recruits coming back so they will be very strong as well on 1A. Athletically they will give some teams a very hard time and are well coached. Heritage is a strong program coming down and will be hard to beat as well. With the lines supposedly drawn I see the West being the strongest side, but Tarboro will remain the team to beat overall (IMO). Add in the traditionally strong 1A teams and it will be fun to watch come playoff time.
I was curious how Holmes would have done in 1AA the last four years IF they could have ever gotten past Tarboro
They only team I would say y’all had no shot of beating was 2019 East Surry
‘17- I think y’all beat Mt. Airy
‘18- I think y’all beat East Surry
‘19- East Surry wins
‘20- a toss up in my opinion
I agree. I feel in 18 you guys could’ve beat east surry. Honestly though, in 18, I feel the best team we played was North Stanly. Had they gone west, I definitely think they would’ve represented the west. I think it would’ve been a good game between you two
Yes North Stanley was the best team we played that year. If their big DT that’s at state would’ve played that night it could’ve been a lot closer than it was.
No problem. It was just kind of an unlucky draw for y’all because you just caught Tarboro while we were extremely loaded. I always enjoyed the Edenton vs Tarboro games. Maybe the programs can schedule some regular seasons games in the future.

Eastern Randolph down here in 1a land after being a 3AA power 15 years ago. Crazy how the admissions change around over the years. Then again if you combined two schools back together they'd probably still be there.
Yep ER around 650 I think. PG at what over 700? Together those numbers put them back up there where they used to be...
How good will Tarboro be in the fall? I am sure they will the East. Do they have alot returning? I noticed their JV finished 1-3 according to maxpreps. Any info?
We should be decent next year. We have some very good backs returning including Tobias Joyner who just won MVP of the Title game
We return Tobias Joyner the MVP from the state championship game this past weekend. Along with Jordan Williams, Trevon White, and another senior running back in Jerome bridgers. Our backfield will be solid again we also return a good portion of our defense. However after this upcoming season Tarboro might take a small dip.
I think Trevon White is going to be a breakout star next year. He just looks like a solid runner. We also have Massenberg moving up next year. He’s a hoss too
