Fall Camp Update: Day 11

Almost midway through camp. Positons are beginning to figure themselves out.

-RB spot looking "deeper and better" to Riley. "Cross has lost good weight, he's playing better. Wilbon really elevated his game, made a ton of plays both in running and passing game. Nabity will be starting on 3 special teams. Taylor is smarter, knows more what we're doing. Devine fits right in, doesn't look like a rookie."

-"I'll say this reluctantly, have always been a 1-man show for us. Having 2 or 3 guys you can rotate in is a very good thing." Riley on RBs

Most of the top rushing teams rotate 2-3 backs in a game. Watch Bama, LSU etc. and they are always putting in a fresh guy.

These guys have very rarely of ever had a QB who could run and be effective running - To not utilize this would be a mistake - Its good to see they have come to that realization

That is good news about Armstrong running. He is most effective when there is the threat of using his feet.

Glad to hear Young is making a move in camp. Especially since I picked him to be "my guy" in the other big thread to have an impact year.

Also glad to hear the run D is coming along. Bo might still be the coach if he had fostered some semblance of one, attitudes and offensive turnovers considered even.

It was obvious in the spring that the zone read and QB run game was going to remain in our offense. Riley said that the QB run game was something they were going to incorporate and they have.

---Freshman wide receiver Lavan Alston being helped from the field by trainers one play before practice ended. As they helped him off, Alston wasn’t letting his right leg make contact with the ground.

Elsewhere (on Scout), this doesn't sound great for a guy we'll be relying on it a lot this year
Speaking of Morgan, the true freshman beat senior corner Jonathan Rose multiple times during 7-on-7s. Rose didn’t win the 1-on-1 battle once.

We are pretty deep at CB, Rose might not sniff the field if he doesn't pick it up.

He got beat repeatedly over the past two years. I never understood why he played so much. That said, he's getting beat by a very talented youngster. Hope Rose picks it up and gets it done.
