Will there be a new fan advisory board for the coming year? I know they were introduced at the basketball game last night. It is a one year term and then there are applicants for the coming year?

Yes there will be. We were told last night that they were going to announce it this past weekend but as we can figure out there was some other things going on. Keep an eye out for the new announcement looking for the new members in the next week or so.

Was there an application process for this year's board?

Yes, but nothing much. We sent in emails explaining why we thought we would be good candidates. Remember though it is not just for football. It covers all sports.

I would imagine it will be up to Hobbs if it is continued or not. It was a Julie thing I believe.

LOL. There were some good changes that were implemented because of the fan advisory board. I won't say what mine were, because that would out me. I am really proud of one of them though. That said, you should know that primarily what we were used for was as a focus group. They bounced their ideas off of us, and we gave them our feedback and our own ideas. All they really wanted from us were our thoughts on gameday experience and marketing. They asked us to mention problems we encountered at sporting events, and ways they could improve and make the experience better.

Some examples are that they wanted to know our ideas on how to boost student attendance, get fans into the games on time, ways to reach new fans who weren't alumni, ways to increase attendance at olympic sports and women's basketball, and probably most importantly, ways to improve the experience of attending a football game. We had input on RU cheers, sound and band participation.

It was Drew Robinson's creation. After Drew left for Syracuse, Geoff Brown took over.

Well, Geoff Brown certainly ran it. But Julie valued it, and was at all of our meetings except for 1. I would think that if Hobbs doesn't value it, Geoff Brown won't be running it anymore. But I don't know. I could ask him I suppose.

Thanks for the insight. I too was wondering what the experience was like and what the output of the effort was.

You had input into the cheers and you didn't fix the RRRUUU chant? I'm outraged.

Not on the fan-advisory board, but we're working on it. You might have noticed that it was actually decent last week vs. Maryland. Once we get the wings of the student section yelling R, it should get easier.

Definitely a worthwhile experience. We were listened to and several of our suggestions were put into place. If you think you have decent ideas on how to improve Rutgers' athletics you should definitely apply for this.

Whoever is on the board, I'm wondering if you forwarded my idea about selling hookers and blow in the stadium? We'd raise enough money to hire three new coaches in no time.

How do you apply? Are they still accepting applications?

Pushed really hard for this one. They thought we should get beer sales first.
