Last week, I was bumped out of my playoffs by 5 points. Let me sum up all of the anamolies that occurred to get to that point.

1) Adrian Petersen goes down with injury (Gerhart proceeds to get 85 yards and a TD).
2) My opponent picked up Charles Clay anout 5 minutes before kickoff. Charles proceeded to have 97 yards and 2 TDs. One TD, he broke about 7 tackles and made it (a SCTOP10 play I believe). If Clay had 97 yards and 1 TD, I would've won.
3) Frank Gore, my other running back, rambled 51 yards down the field and all he needed to do was fight off a CB to prance into the endzone. Instead, due to the clock winding down, Frank falls down in-bounds so the clock can keep ticking and the 49ers could kick a FG to win. Thanks for nothing, Frank.
4) And my favorite... My opponent had Antonio Brown... who caught the 8th or 9th lateral during Pittsburgh's last play and rumbled about 50 yards down the field, stepping out of bounds prior to going into the endzone. Once he eclisped 100 yards, he received a 5 point bonus in our league, so the play was worth about 10 points. What makes this even worse, is that if he stayed on the field, rumbled into the endzone, I probably would've won, considering that one of the laterals was a missed forward pass and the entire play would've been reviewed and overturned. Instead, Antonio Brown gets the yards, the 10 fantasy points, and I get 17ed in the ***.

I had a horrible start to the season and some really bad injuries, but I made a late season surge towards the playoffs. I had three teams ahead of me vying for the last playoff spot. I needed to win the final regular season game, end with more season points than those three teams, and for them all three to lose. They all lost. I took the points lead with a 123 point game including 20 from Steven Jackson, 19 from justin tucker, and 17 from megatron. I lost 125-123. No playoffs.

Ah, what a great forum to release my anonymous frustrations:

I am in a 16 team keeper league, which makes it real difficult to get multiple good players at each position. Without boring too much, my keepers were Stevan Ridley (fumble-bust), Owen Daniels (good early on, then injured), and Randall Cobb (also good early on, and then injured). I somehow managed to draft a better-than-expected team and make some good moves on the waiver wire to an 8-5 record before the playoffs. As the 5 seed, playing the 4 seed, I was actually favored by 25 points in the projections. (We all know projections are nothing more than a statistical guess in FF).

1. Thanks to some AWESOME weather in Philadelphia, Matt Stafford (who before this week was a top 3 or 4 QB in FF points) puts up a measly 5.94.
2. For the second week in a row, Jordan Reed was planning to start his game, only to be pulled minutes before the game started (and of course, I didn't realize this until the game had already begun). I got a whopping zero out of my TE position.
3. Marques Colston, for my opponent, decided he was going to have his season highs in yards/touchdowns/everything this week.
4. Other smaller factors were involved.

The snow in Philly really killed me. But, that's how fantasy football works. Guess next year I will need to thoroughly research the Weather Channel before each week to consider who to start.**

Impressive

I finished the regular season first in two and fourth in one and I'm 3rd in a points league that has turned into a 3-way fight for first...everyone else is out of it.

Since I've been given a platform to cry about my fantasy year let me lay this scenario out for you to enjoy.

I've been the league leading team all year, with only one other team close to me all year. In week 10 we played against each other for the only time at 7-2 each, and I lost by single digits. That would be my first loss in a 3 game skid going into the final week.

In the final week I was in 2nd place at 7-5, and 4 things had to happen perfectly for me to get bumped out of the playoffs.

1) I had to lose(my opponent was a playoff fringe team)
2 & 3) Two OTHER teams that were on the fringe had to win(one of which had to beat the top team).
4) If 1, 2, and 3 all happened...the 1 fringe team that ties me by record had to beat me in the "points scored" category for the year. I had a 70 point cushion going into the final week.

Well all 4 things happened. The bastard that had to beat me in points scored 211 the final week, and beat me by 20 points for the year. He had Manning, Charles, Gordon, and Defense I can't remember that just went off the final week.

Would love to hear everyone else crying stories as well.

I lost a game one week by one tenth of a point because my QB (Russell Wilson) took two knees at the end of the game and technically lost a yard on each one.

I made the playoffs first round last week, and scored 150 including having cam newton in there laying an egg and still lost by 30. I'd say scoring 150 you'd win 90% of your games in our league. I was beaten by Brees' big game (which I can handle), the antonio brown play, and Josh Gordon (who?). yes, josh gordon and antonio brown. Sometimes it's just not your year.

Randall Cobb-season ending
muscle hampster-season ending
Jermicheal Finley-season ending
Not to mention injuries to my plug and play guys

I got hit hard by injuries, and bye weeks. It may be my finest coaching job yet to get that far.

1. I was the 2 seed in one of my leagues, and the commish thought it would be brilliant to have 8 teams make the playoffs, IN A TEN TEAM LEAGUE. That's right, 80% of the teams made the playoffs. So in a league where at worst I should have had a first round bye, the 7 seed put up 218 points to knock me out.

2. Going into Monday night, I was winning my first round matchup 123-70. 50 point cushion with Alshon Jeffery and Dallas D still going for me. Well, my opponent had Josh McCown, Matt Forte, and Dan Bailey. I lost 141-133. Josh freaking McCown put up 43 points.

Considering I was able to keep him in the 5th round, it actually worked out well. I was able to get Chris Johnson and Darren McFadden in the draft (and also had Joique Bell who did well and Bobby Rainey later in the year). I also forgot to mention, I was able to trade Stevan Ridley for Demaryius Thomas in about week 5, so I came out on the positive end of that deal. Bad luck out of my TE position, Randall Cobb, and snow.

To your point though, thats why i like two week playoff rounds. There are some legit FA/WWire moves going down the second week.

While we're on the fantasy topic, I've got one remaining decision for this weekend: start or sit Michael Floyd (at Flex)
He's been beat up, and is facing the #1 pass defense in Tennessee.
Other options to replace him are:
Rashard Mendenhall (facing the #31 rush defense)
Bobby Rainey (facing the 49ers, but is averaging 20+ points in starts at home)
Charles Clay (probably going to be in a low-scoring game with NE)

Safe play seems to be Mendenhall, and since my opponent has Manning and Montee Ball vs Moreno for me, if I'm within 15 points tomorrow morning, I probably go that way. If Manning goes off and/or Ball steals Moreno's points, I may put in Rainey for the home run threat.

How about your first 3 picks being A. Rodgers, A. Foster and Julio Jones. First 4 or so weeks were great

I sneaked into the playoffs being 8th in my league. I was 5-8 and lost my last 2 games but somehow got in. The sad thing is that I have 2 of the top 3 running backs in the league with Charles and Forte. I have just had miserable luck the entire season. McFadden usually plays in my flex, but he has been very off and on the last few weeks ( and seasons). Miraculously, last week I defeated the #1 team in the league who had an impressive 11-2 record. Now I am facing Josh Gordon in the Semis. I made a desperation move, and picked up Daniel Thomas with my last waiver move. Hopefully Lamar Miller is still feeling concussed and D. Thomas will propel me to the Finals. I love FF. Good luck to everyone still in the playoffs unless one of you is in my league.

This is my first season playing and I'm convinced that most of the folks in my league are amateurs at best. I started the season 1-3 and finished 10-3 and have already won the 1st playoff game so I'm on a 10 game winning streak. We also have a 10 team league with 8 making playoffs thus no byes so I had to sweat out a squeaker vs the #8 seed last weekend.

My draft didn't work out too well with only Calvin Johnson, Russell Wilson, Alfred Morris, Matt Prater, and the Bengals D still on my roster from 15 players originally selected. Through trades and waiver wire pickups I've assembled a heck of a team with Lynch, Lacy, Morris, and Stacey at RB; Stafford and Wilson at QB (yes someone actually dropped Stafford to waivers 3-4 weeks into the season); Megatron, Josh Gordon, and Jordy Nelson at WR; Jordan Reed, Charles Clay, and just picked up Dennis Pitta at TE. Even as a 1st timer, I realize there is no way I should have this much talent on my team in a 10 team league. I'm somewhat average at TE, but All Pro at just about every other position.

My problem is I can't get all these guys on the field at once as we play 1 QB, 1 RB, 1 WR, 1 Flex, and 1 TE. I recognize this is really living up to the thread topic of whining. Projection this week is for a tie with the #4 seed so I've got to pick my starters very carefully. Hard to sit either Josh Gordon or Megatron right now so that ties up my Flex. Lynch at the Giants, a gimply Lacy (ankle) against the horrendous Cowboys D, Stacey vs Saints, or Morris vs Falcons. Which 1 of those 4 that I start at RB will likely make or break my season. My opponent doesn't have my depth so no tough decisions to make, but his starters have some really strong matchups this week.

Last week was my league's first playoff week. I was the #2 seed but have been in QB hell since Rodgers went down. I see the snow on the tv but am too late to pull Reggie Bush and I get a big fat zero. I also have MegaTron and he only manages 5.5 in the snow. By the time it gets to the Sunday night game I'm 51 points behind and only have 2 players left. He has none and is celebrating the win already. Jimmy Graham manages to get me 20 but I'm dead in the water. Then my last hope Josh McCown goes absolutely 17ing crazy and scores 46 points. I've never been so excited for a Bears win in my life. Now the Bears have benched him again. Oh well the win on Monday was the best fantasy experience I've ever had. I was so dead and he was bragging so much. Not anymore *****.

I have the highest scoring team in the league

and it's not even close. In the breakdown of the head to head for each game to everyone, nobody has more than four wins against me with most having 2 or 3.

12 team league, I was drafting tenth. All RB's that were can't miss were gone but Calvin Johnson was there and he has not disappointed. Here's my WR's

Calvin Johnson, Demaryius Thomas and Josh Gordon.. Kick *** uh?

Matt Stafford QB - got him in 5th round and he is the 3rd rated QB

RB's I ended up with four - Eddie Lacy, MJD, Bernard Giovani and L Bell with only MJD underperforming but even he made a push at the end.

I had above average TE and a good defense as well. So what went wrong? I missed the playoffs? Everybody seemed to have their best game against me. Dammit!

My ideas for fantasy...

  • Team Special Teams and Defense which includes kickers.
  • Screw Head to Head - if you have a 10 team league - top 5 point scorers that week get a win. Bottom 5 get a loss because it sucks when you score 150 points and you are the 2nd highest point total that week but your opponent is the first.

Y'all think these are good ideas? Discuss.

I like the idea myself. Especially after having what I considered a kick *** team and missing out. I even thought about it as well, just not long enough oy plan the rules.

I love reading other people's fantasy football stories about as much as I love:

Taking a shower with my dad.
Cooking greasy bacon naked.
Lingering shower farts.
Post-coitus snuggling.
Beer Dumps on a turbulent plane.
Not making the fantasy playoffs.

I actually had Mike James that same game.

I had a rough season...really tough luck. I have (or had) Ray Rice (****** year), Roddy White (****** year), Doug Martin (injury), and Mike James (injury). Knowshown Moreno was good for me. Andre Johnson has been pretty good for me after a slow start. Russell Wilson is pretty steady, and Alshon Jeffery has been a beast lately.

ive said this stuff for a few years now on the scoring. I hate it when I'm in 3rd place and I've had a schedule that was 300 points harder than 1st place. I led both of my leagues in scoring this year but finished in 3rd in both leagues.

It's like I'm looking in the mirror (Rogers, Jones)! Plus, my "unheralded break-out sleeper pick": one Mr. Vick Ballard.
