for both New Belgium and DFH. Even with recent expansions they aren't able to keep up with demand. DFH pulled out of TN not too long ago just to keep up in other markets.

If the alcohol content was low enough to be legal prior to the change in legislation, there is no reason to expect the beer anytime soon. If anything, it's less likely these beers (Fat Tire, Yuengling, etc.) will be sold in Mississippi since the supply of available beers is not higher than before.

raising the alcohol content might bring in some of those guys (New Belgium, Yuengling, Sweet Water), because they could bring in some of their lesser known brands with higher alcohol content that might have been previously banned.

DH is a lost cause. I've never seen it farther south than Virginia, so I don't see them skipping a handfull of states to show up in MS.

My favorites now are Ranger IPA and Shift. 2Below, Mighty Arrow, and Hoptober are my favorite seasonal beers they have made..
They also made one called Giddyup with expresso in it.. Fat Tire is really no that good, imo...
The Walgreens in West Memphis carries most New Belgium products.

I can get it here in Florida, although the selection is much more limited than what I could get when I lived in Maryland. But their staples like the 60 and 90 minute IPAs and most of their regularseasonal brandsare available.<div>
</div><div>Here is a cool Google Doc link that lists nearly every brewery and the US and where they are distributed.</div><div>

That said, they pulled out of 4 states and the UK so clearly they were having major supply issues. Typical mid-size business expansion woes.

You know, I think Fat Tire has become the "cool" beer and therefore a lot of people (beer snobs) are starting to trash it. Much in the way people react to there favorite bands becoming more main stream. I witnessed it happen with Phish, WSP and more recently Kings of Leon. I'm not saying that's what you're doing just that it seems like every time someone brings up Fat Tire someone else has to remind everyone that there are better beers out there. It's actually starting to happen to New Belgium as a brewery. I've tried a lot of craft brews and Fat Tire is still one of my favorites. I have to be in the mood for something like a DFH 90min IPA but Fat Tire always tastes good to me, regardless if I'm slightly hung-over, what the weathers is like (100d or freezing) or whatever. I did recently try NB's Shift and I like it. It's good beer that doesn't weigh you down.<div>
</div><div>I'm expecting Sweetwater to get here soon. By "expecting" I mean that I would think with the proximity of the brewery that it would be a logical move. I have no inside knowledge. Didn't want there to be any confusion there... </div>

and I heard many make that argument. But, in practice, you won't see many new beers that are below 6%. Yuengling doesn't even make any beers that exceed the old limit so don't expect to see it anytime soon (who cares, it's not very good anyway). New Belgium and Sweet Water's best selling beers were already legal, so that's not happening either. Any benefits to these breweries of the new regulation is more than offset by the increased competition. <div>
</div><div>What will we get? For the most par, beers that are distributed with the macros in nearby states.</div>

First brewery I looked up was Bell's (please come to MS!), which is actually available in Georgia. <div>

Just bc the law changed doesn't mean ms will get every beer made. Plus, adding to their supply chain takes time, if ms ever gets added.

They have to start making more to keep up with the demand in the states they already distribute to. Adding another state to any brewery will take time

My wife loves Fat Tire, and we keep a case or two at the house. I don't like fruity or dark beers.
Fat Tire has that malty, bready, caramel taste, that is just not appealing to me. Bread in a can, breakfast beer..
I personally prefer a little more kick to my brews, like an IPA or Pale Ale..
Here are a few of my favorites

Abita Jackamo IPA
RedHook LongHammer IPA
New Belgium Ranger IPA
TallGrass IPA
Odell IPA
Sweetwater 420
Acme California IPA
400 Pound Monkey IPA
Lazy Magnolia Timber Beast
Lazy Magnolia Hopsitality
Lazy Magnolia Ship Island Ale

High gravity beers are wonderful, especially if you don't normally have access to them. But for the average beer drinker, craft or not, is going to typically grab a beer between 4-6% ABV. You'd be wrecked, both physically and financially if on gameday's you opted for Old Rasputin over a Magic Hat #9. The fact that NB can sell 45k barrels of Fat Tire allows them to produce things like their Lips of Faith series.<div>
</div><div>The thing that will hopefully bring these brewers to MS is if the market for craft beer continues to grow in MS. Introducing more outside brands is a good start but an even better avenue is growing the available brands from within. New Belgium became as popular as they are because they produced a tasty beer that became a part of Colorado culture and that word of mouth spread. Sweet Water is doing the same in Atlanta. Lazy Magnolia has had tremendous growth since their inception and the fact that several new breweries on on their way to opening points to a bright future - but like most things it takes time.</div>

I understand. There are a lot of highly-rated beers that I'm not crazy about. I have to be in the mood for a hoppy IPA. It just seems like Fat Tire is the only beer that constantly gets called out for not being the best beer in a breweries line-up. I think Abita's best beer is Turbodog (I haven't had any of their high gravity beers in a long time) but I don't feel the need to let everyone know that anytime Abita Amber (also good) is mentioned. I'm not bashing the guy that brought this up, it's just something I've noticed and thought I'd mention it. Everyone has different taste. I let someone taste a Unibrou La Fin Du MondeSaturdaynight and they hated it. He's a Miller Lite drinker. To each his own, I guess.

I really want to like IPAs but I have to be in the mood for one. I usually start off with an IPA and then switch to something less hoppy. They're growing on me though. I do enjoy a Dale's Pale Ale and Yazoo's pale ale is good also. It's the IPAs that can be a little too hoppy for me.

If they wanted to sell in Mississippi, they would have been before the law passed. It's not strong, and it's not craft. It's actually pretty ******, but good for a cheap beer.

The Ying is good stuff. Cheap too. It's no craft beer, but don't knock on the Ying!
I know in FL it's considered equivalent to beast, but here it's a normal beer. Funny how branding seems to be regional along with prices for various beers.

now that people can actually get it, they realize it's overrated. I've never liked Fat Tire, but I love their others, like the summer wheat, blue canoe, skinny paddle (I may be mixing some names).

I really liked their 60 minute IPA. The 90 is borderline for my taste, and the 120 is undrinkable.

mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"">We appreciate you reaching out to us
and we wish that we had better news for you. Unfortunately, we aren’t
quite ready to begin distribution to Mississippi (although the laws changing
will definitely speed up the process). The good news is we just began
distribution to the northeast last August (MD, VA, DC) and we plan to keep
expanding from there. We are currently exploring some large facility
expansions, including a 2nd brewery location in Asheville, NC, in order to be
able to produce higher volumes of beer. These expansions will eventually
enable us to fully expand across the country. Hopefully one day soon, you
will be able to purchase our beer at your favorite corner market.
Thanks for your patience.</span></p>

get it here in Virginia until a couple of years ago. They have a couple of other good beers including Mothership Wit and 1554.

but I would guess it has something to do with the fact they are building their 2nd brewery in Asheville, which is an area of the country that is quickly becoming like Portland and Seattle in terms of craft beer enthusiasm.

Thought it was available all over the country now. We've had it as long as I can remember. If I'm not mistaken. Alabama was the first market outside Penna.
