One from each Era I watched

Early 90's: Grant Hill
Mid 90's: Trajan Langdon
Early 2000's: Shane Battier
Mid 2000's: JJ Redick
Late 2000's to Present: Kyle Singler soon to be Grayson Allen :D

Most exciting: Jay Williams [but didn't stay all 4 years]

Dang AA...I cant believe I forgot Singler...I loved that dude...And Scheyer and the whole 2010 team...I mean I just named my first born son Lance and he might have been my 5th least favorite on that whole team...Lol. This isn't a fun game. Of course Battier is tops for so many reasons....But after that it's impossible

I'm glad I am not the only one who feels this way.
Tyus made my list by 1 shot well mostly lol..the first night jay Williams started his bs by tearing his shirt off at john Paul Jones arena and revealing a uva jersey going against Duke and tyus hit that dagger 3 to ice it in Charlottesville put him on this list itself ..but anyway yes I feel ya enough is enough .jays becoming a pest ...idk if he's trying to be unbiased or is just an arrogant prick now..same for the other jay .i really want to believe the first..but the more and more I hear I'm beginning to wonder....either way hes annoying as hell...I started to put rivers on the list just for that 1 shot against UNC..it was close ...

It is fun reading other responses and having flashbacks of players/teams/accomplishments. I didn't mean to pick all seniors but after accumulating the list I noticed that correlation. The amount of games I have been able to watch has also changed along with my life so with so many great Duke players and so many great Duke moments, to me Top 5 lists are more so a representation of when we watched this basketball program the most. When I read your list I figured we are around the same age :)

Bad *** naming your son Lance. He will be able to experience some of the enjoyment Thomas and that 2010 team brought you

Both jay's are doing one thing....driving ratings and nothing more than that...they both love duke I'm sure and with duke driving up the ratings also it's exactly what the networks want

Jay is now a TV personality. I noticed he appeared as a pundit on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption recently [Impressive for him]. To accomplish a post playing career as Jay is clearly attempting to do - there can't be a topic or issue off the table and that includes Duke. He even gains points by going heel against his ties. I can't blame Jay because his professional playing career was quite short. To have a post playing career on TV and be successful at it - this was a necessary step. Jay isn't committing crimes or saying derogative things about Duke so I just choose to separate Jay the Dukie from Jay the TV pundit.

I know. That first class of K's is where it all started. Dawkins, Alarie, Bilas, Meagher, Dave Henderson are why we are spoiled

Meagher wasn't with that class but he did play with them. Meagher was tough. OFC

1. Grayson. Has had a heck of a story. And I'm so thrilled it's not over yet.
2. Jj. I mean, how can you not love him.
3. Quinn and Tyus. Had to tie them together. I loved that backcourt. Quinn finally getting the championship and getting all emotional after the game. And Tyus hitting the dagger 3 and looking over at the bench (SI cover). Shew still gives me goosebumps.
4. Jay Williams. He was just a bulldog. Never quit.
5. Has to be Laettner. You can't put a top anything list about Duke without him being on it. He is Duke.

He cut his own career short with his own issues . I do feel sorry about it but it was his fault ..I know all this is for ratings duh but I just feel he takes it to far .....take Michael strahan for example he's one of the most successful ...does he act like that? lol no .. I think he's been hangimg around the other J to much ..it just isn't real to me ..fake ....I'm not crying about it I'm just going to continue to mute the tv lol ...that's all.and idk y but it's just a tad embarrassing with all the transfers and all going on lately it's like the whole world (and)!!! Some former players are all turning against us or resentful whatever ! Glad I'm use to it ! Season needs to get here.then UNC wins the title ...blahhh

Post players have been very underrepresented ITT. In basketball terms, at least, we must all be pretty short (6'2" and under). We just seem to relate to the little guys. lol

All-post, worst full-court-press-breaking version:
Zooooooooubz
Marshall
RKelly (a stretch 4 is still a 4)
Jah
and always, Shane
(b/c "favorite" is favorite, and Laet was our a-hole... which is still an a-hole)

To me it's like a follower ..kid that wants to fit it that never thinks for himself and always worrys what everybody thinks ..that sums it up ...yes I know bad example ..Michael strahan is a leader just like people said he was when he played .you can be real and be entertaining

Both Jays IMO take it OVER THE TOP in their Duke critique IMO.I wish both could be MORE NEUTRAL like G-Man and Grant Hill. I have said this for a while now...,JMO, but agree w/you...

My top 5 are related to some guys that were local to my area and some not.

1. JJ Redick - I will never forget the high school rivalry and hate (in all sports) between his school Cave Spring and mine Franklin County. Those were the good ol days before the conference realignment that has killed the rivalries. Didn't like the guy in high school till he committed to Duke... then I was like. He's a good dude lol! Glad to see a local guy go on and accomplish what he did at Duke. Very cool!

2. Jay Williams - (not a local to my area) but always liked his style of play. Will never forget the miracle minute.

3. Nolan Smith - an Oak Hill guy I watched in high school and got to follow his career. So happy to see him help us win the 2010 national championship.

4. Quinn Cook another Oak Hill guy I got to watch in high school . Quinn will always be a favorite of mine. To be in Indy in 2015 and on the court feet away watching him cry during "One Shining Moment" as Coach K wiped his tears was a cool moment for me. Glad Quinn finally hung a banner in Cameron!

5. Grayson Allen. (not local to me, but still a kid I got to know late in his high school career) I remember interviewing him at the Myrtle Beach Ball Classic the winter of his high school season. The guy was so excited on becoming a Blue Devil. I could feel the excitement in his voice for that quick interview. Who would have guessed he would be the spark we needed to come back on Wisconsin to win the 2015 national championship. Through the ups and downs this kid has experienced I will always be a fan of his. So glad he is back for his senior season ... a season I think and hope we all will be talking about in 2018 and beyond!

My top 5 were mostly guys I had some kind of bond with. However I could also include guys like Hurley, Kennard, Irving, and Laettner as well.

Did not know him personally. Just seen him play in high school since Cave Spring was about 20 minutes from where I live. Did you know him? He was the one guy that would drop 40 points in a high school game but never looked like a ball hog. Was always good at finding the open spot and just putting teams away with his shooting.

That's cool I was wondering about his high school years a few weeks ago and they had a game on YouTube and you summed it up great. I wish I woulda got to see him live back then!

That was a good cave spring team...had the lumsden kid that went to play baseball at Clemson I believe

JJ was unreal in HS...I didn't know he would be that good in college though

I believe he dropped 41 in state title game or maybe it was semis

Yeah the Cave Spring team was really good. The Lumsden kid was a good talent as well. JJ dropped 40+ against us (FC) like it was nothing.

I saw him drop 40 on Pulaski like it was nothing too...Jeff king was playing for Pulaski and probably had 30 rebounds that night too...alot of them off his own missed lol
