I have respect for what Tomlin did for the Steelers, but it was getting too long. Not having a losing season became more important than doing the right thing and tearing it down to get the QB they now desperately now need, and getting some of these bad contracts off the books. That's all they were ever going to get moving forward with Mike was a .500 record and a first round exit. Theyve had like 5 QBs starting opening day in 5 years.

The whole concept of reveling in a coach firing or a coach resigning...speaks volumes about anonymous internet and a portion of the participants. Tomlin was not or is not a fraud. He is a solid (not great) coach and probably will be in the HOF. Although, I think that is more for his longevity and ability to never have a losing season than having top end success. I don't like all the media glorifying him like he is Don Shula or Bill Belichik.

Add to that Herbert was drafted 6 overall and the Steelers pick that was traded for Fitzpatrick was 18. So yeah that was a terrible miss.

Repeatedly hiring stale, uncreative OCs is one thing, but repeatedly trotting out the most expensive D which continued to get exposed by good offenses is another.
A lot of that is on Tomlin who had a lot of sway when it came to roster management (hence, the expensive/aging D).
Other teams were able to find QBs mid to late in the 1st round or in later rounds.
Otoh, Tomlin was the one who brought in Trubisky, Pickett, Wilson, Fields and Rodgers.
Even if Tomlin had a promising, young QB, do you really think his picks for OCs would have done a good job in developing such a QB?
Especially behind an O-line that still really hasn't been fixed.
While there are similarities btwn Tomlin and Franklin, his doppelganger in the college ranks is Fitzgerald.

Who am I picking on? I already said that Harbaugh to Pittsburgh would be a good fit.
My personal thought, no inside knowledge, was that ownership sat him down and said "we aren't hiring one and done free agents anymore, we are going to work towards accumulating draft picks, rebuilding our cap and roster, and it will be a free rocky seasons and if you want to be here you can, but you're string of non losing seasons will likely be over"

Think I read that only five of Tomlin’s 17 first round picks signed second contracts and only 8% of all picks under Tomlin signed second contracts. Oof.
Please let it be an offensive coach. I'd be ok with Stefanski to be honest. He took the freaking Browns to the playoffs twice in the past 5 years despite the compete incompetence by ownership. The roster is old and it's going to be a rebuild. Might as well have a dude that has experience dealing with shịt rosters.
