Not sure how anyone can be disappointed in the first episode since it is showing what would probably be the natural progression of the virus/disease and societies reaction to it. I actually liked the ominous nature of the first episode with the high school kid dropping the tidbit about the microbe or bacteria being in 5 states and them not knowing what it is, and how the counselor just brushes it off as nothing (what most people would do). Also, how the kids in the school keep dwindling day by day. Then, finally, the leaked youtube video of the walker taken out on the overpass. It just seems more authentic to me that way, like that is how it would all go down if it were happening in real life.
I believe that by the end of the 2nd episode, it will be the all out military invasion that people are wanting to see as society begins to break down.
Things I want to see before the end of the six episode season are:
1. Some kind of theory on how this thing started. Since Dr. Jenner from CDC on TWD S01-E06 said that the virus is already in everyone, then what caused it to mutate or what caused it to be awakened from dormancy or whatever? Was it something in the water? Air? Some food perservative? Some kind of plant spore? What? The easiest explanation would be that it is the apocalypse gene, something in our DNA that is dormant, but is awakened at some point either by nature or by divine intervention, to signal the end of days, but I'm really hoping they don't go that route and instead find a catalyst, something that triggered the dormant gene, especially something man-made, because of the irony of it all.
2. I want to see or hear news reports from other cities showing the effects of the outbreak there, just to help broaden the horizon on the show a little bit. Maybe even show the bombing of Atlanta to tie in the two shows together. TWD has been so encapsulated in Georgia, and now Virginia area, with very little talk of how it is elsewhere (the only little bit we got was Abraham's back-story) I'd like to see or hear how other states are dealing with the threat.
3. I want to see more CDC involvement (i.e. setting up quarantines for those they believe are infected) and possibly see their panic at the realization that the disease is incurable and unstoppable.
4. I want to see the military breakdown from the original "we have orders to...blah, blah, blah" to the vigilante squads they will probably become as the walkers begin to overtake the city and they turn from being protectors to being as dangerous as the walkers they were defending people against.
For me, if I get this stuff in this show, then I'll be a very happy camper.
