Few things that have me concerned about the baseball team.

- We have to platoon players at 3B because no one can step up and win the job. If we are going to play Frost because he's a lefty bat, he better not ****, because Norris can **** too.

- We came into the weekend leading the SEC in batting average, doubles, triples and some other category. (can't remember but these are good things)

- We had 120 offensive strikeouts before Friday night's game. LSU had 71. That has to improve dramatically and this flip flipping the lineup around is not benefiting us that much because I feel it is taking some guys out of rhythm.

- Our best option in left is Henderson even though he's a walking fungo man machine that shoots 6-4-3 and 4-6-3 double plays. He made a great running catch in left center on a ball today. He played a ball very nicely off the wall on Friday and kept the guy to a long single. (Its obvious that Cohen will take defense over offense.)

- I know Porter was 3-3 or so on Saturday, but he has waaaaaay too many holes in his swing and is a liability on the bases. I would DH Detz if Rea is playing 1B and Norris is at 3B. Detz is batting near .400. I don't give a damn if they are throwing a lefty. He needs to play.

- We need to see more Ross Mitchell and Girodo needs to pitch against the SWAC and throw coaches BP on Thursday afternoon. We threw Ross Mitchell a ton in Hoover and he has shown that he can throw in back to back days in heat and tough situations. Girodo has shown nothing. If you are going to throw a situational lefty, throw Pollorena for a batter or two or throw CT.

- No excuse to not have 8-9,000 on Friday night. We had a little over 5,000. Perfect weather. Top 10 matchup. Coach34 in attendance and our fans **** the bed. Ole Miss would have had 10,000.

The biggest issue is cleaning up the errors

In the field and the wild pitches. This is what kept us from winning the series. I might add we should have gone Bob Gibson on Katz a lot sooner.

Agreed that the errors are an issue, but I feel that some of that is due to no continuity because we keep moving guys around. Detz hasn't played an inning of 3B all year long and we had had multiple chances to put him out there. Yet we wait until Saturday night vs LSU to put him there and he kicks around a sac **** attempt that extended the inning and hurt us. That's not the time to experiment.

Agree. This should be Norris, period. Frost is no better defensively, and worse with the bat. He had a few good AB's this weekend, but don't let that fool you over the course of the season. Not directing that at you.

- We came into the weekend leading the SEC in batting average, doubles, triples and some other category. (can't remember but these are good things)

Agree. We had over 30 hits this weekend. We are hitting, we just have to get more timely hits. That will come when John quits starting the goof troop and batting them 6-9.

- We had 120 offensive strikeouts before Friday night's game. LSU had 71. That has to improve dramatically and this flip flipping the lineup around is not benefiting us that much because I feel it is taking some guys out of rhythm.

Agree. See "goof troop" elimination above.

Agree. He is our best option out there. We may have to do more hit and running, sac ****ing, etc, for a while with a man on 1 when he hits. Just to get that **** out of his head. He will be fine. The law of averages has to catch up eventually. He hit the ball hard a few times today....I just wish he didn't have to dig himself a 1-2 count every time he bats.

Disagree. Porter hit really well this weekend, and had a HR robbed today. Yea, he has trouble with a low, inside, slider against a righty from time to time, but he is still a guy that hits well and we need him in there every game in my opinion. Detz should be our starting 2B, so he should not have to ever DH. Gotta have both of those guys AND Norris in the lineup for every SEC game.

Agree. Girodo is the Girodo of old against SEC teams. Delegate him to midweek so that we don't burn Pollo. I hate that we are having to pitch Ross Mitchell so many innings on Saturdays. We have got to get more innings out of Evan, or hopefully get Woody back in the rotation and pitching well. Ross is a great long reliever.

- No excuse to not have 8-9,000 on Friday night. We had a little over 5,000. Perfect weather. Top 10 matchup. Coach34 in attendance and our fans **** the bed. Ole Miss would have had 10,000.

Agree. I think had we won Friday night, the crowd would have been HUGE on Saturday....but that's no excuse. We all have to do a better job with this, myself included. The weather was perfect and it was a big time series.

And here is some **'s for you to put after your Coach34 statement.***

You gotta remember that students were away on spring break. So you can easily add I think at least 1500-2000 for Friday and Saturday.

Completely agree about Detz. He should have already been tried out at 3B and 2B during non-conference

Spring Break did hurt the crowd, but as I said earlier, Ole Miss would have had close to 10,000. We still have around 2,000 fans that have died and continue to purchase tickets from the grave and not use them or we have some that buy tickets, but don't come because Polk didn't want John and wanted Raffo.

Edited to add: It's time for Stricklin to get MSU a ticket exchange system so baseball fans can purchase chair backs that are not being used for a game or weekend. If pawpaw from Amory can't come, I want to use his ticket.

I think Friday and Saturday as long as detz can turn two you play him at second. But on Sunday with Kendall being a ground ball pitcher and a ton of his balls go to second. You play Pirtle and let porter or detz dh. Which ever one has been the hottest all weekend.

And frost still has zero business playing anywhere. Besides being all start pinch runner.

Did anybody ever see a 25 man roster? Does the sec still do this.

My best guess who all I rember playing.

1 Henderson
2 Armstrong
3 Robson
4 ct
5 renfroe
6 Norris
7 Frazier
8 Pirtle
9 britton
10 hann
11 detz
12 Rea
13 porter
14 slaughter
15 ammo (who should not catch unless slater is hurt)
16 Lindgren
17 Mitchell
18 Kendall
19 gentry
20 girodo
21 holder
22 Mitchell
23 bracwell
24 brown
25 polo.
26 cox

So I guess Fullerton, flair, shelly, fitts and woodruff were left off.

Pollo can be a liability too. Should only be used against the SWAC/USM/Mizzou types or as mop up. I know he is the team mascot and all but he and Evan Mitchell should never be started against good teams.

I feel more confident with pollo on the mound in a tight situation than Girodo. It's not even close and the coaches should see that too. Our pitching will have to have a good weekend in Lexington at that USSSA little league field.

I'm pretty sure the 25 man only pertains to travel, so we could still use those guys at home. I could be wayyy wrong.

The 25-man roster is for all SEC games. Home and away.

Do you have to have the same 25 for the entire series or can your 25 change day to day. For example, do we have to count Lindgren all weekend or can we drop pitchers from day to day.

It's 25 for the series. Otherwise, you'd effectively have a 27-man roster as teams would only activate their starting pitchers for 1 game.

I agree coach. My position for the last two weeks has been we have not been mentally tough, countless errors and hit batters/wild pitches. Look at those two, or three really, numbers from the 2 UCA losses and the 2 losses to LSU and its very telling. The thing that drives me crazy about these issues is that 99% of the time, it has nothing to do with talent or ability and everything to do with focus and mental preparation. This team can be as good as they want to be. Clean up these mental lapses and this is a national seed caliber team, or at a minimum a host team.

Now, I know that errors are going to happen, but you cannot commit 3 errors in the field and hit 6 batters and expect to beat anyone. Thats the just the thought of someone that has no credibility when it comes to baseball and generally has no clue about anything. Guess I am 10%er.

In that case I'd leave Fullerton Hann Britton Girodo Brown Fitts/Gentry and Cox/Armstrong off.

Pollo can be a liabilty? In SEC regular season play last year he pitched 14.1 innings and gave up 0 earned runs. Stats don't lie.
