I agree. So why didn’t Holeman Cuntzler and his two former DC analysts do that last week?Oklahoma is better on defense than us but they focused on stopping the run and that’s how you stop Mizzou
Lack of talent.I agree. So why didn’t Holeman Cuntzler and his two former DC analysts do that last week?
$15 million dollars injected into the system. Whose fault is that?Lack of talent.
Look at our dline portal recruiting. You’ll see the answer.$15 million dollars injected into the system. Whose fault is that?
Who is at fault for that? Turner? Cuntzler? Libby?Look at our dline portal recruiting. You’ll see the answer.
It starts with Turner. Turns into a Hutz Lebby problem for doing nothing about it or Turner.Who is at fault for that? Turner? Cuntzler? Libby?
Unfortunately, I agree. Turner was a great position coach for us in the past, but I’m afraid the game has passed him by.It starts with Turner. Turns into a Hutz Lebby problem for doing nothing about it or Turner.
So tell me how many points against our so-called defense should be deened acceptable? If anyone that has the ability to see enough to have a drivers license, then you can see that OK has a top 10 defense in football, and one can see State in the bottom 1/3.
So I'm guessing several here cannot drive legally.
Well, to not be biased, I would say whatever the average is for the bottom 1/3. A quick lookup says that is roughly 400 total yards allowed and 28-30 points. So tell me how many points against our so-called defense should be deened acceptable?
i swear that's what it looks like most of the time!
$ can be offered or available, but players have to be willing to come here.$15 million dollars injected into the system. Whose fault is that?
Annnnnnd…..we’re way worse than that. We are giving up around 34-35 per game in SEC play even when you remove the other teams’ defensive and special teams TD’s. And my guess is those those DST scores are not removed from anyone’s numbers in those aggregate stats you’re referencing. So, it’s actually even worse than it sounds.Well, to not be biased, I would say whatever the average is for the bottom 1/3. A quick lookup says that is roughly 400 total yards allowed and 28-30 points.
The even more insurmountable problem is that we’re not even going to be able to land another Jeffrey Simmons or Chris Jones ever again. Even the elite guys less than 100 miles away are no longer in play. Look no further than Caleb Cunningham for evidence of this. Here's what I would imagine a recruiting pitch would be like for the top tier DL (or whatever position some on here thinks we should be able to get that live outside our recruiting area).
Have we ever gotten a National top 25 DL that lived outside Ms, La, Al, Ga?
Not saying we shouldn't recruit these players but everyone is and we get the very best we can and sometimes they are really really good. But, most of them need a couple years of coaching because they are raw but extremely athletic.
We've had some very very good defenses in years past with 3* talent out of HS. Kelley Jones has performed very well for us this year and I expect him to keep improving along with a few others. Maybe a few we need to cut bait with this year and hopefully we find some that can perform better.
Recruiter: Hey, #1 DL prospect, this is D-Co from MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY, we want you to come to MISSISSIPPI STATE UNIVERSITY.
#1 DL: Um yeah, now who is this again? Oh ms st univ, exactly where are you located? It sounds like your in Ms and I'm in (Cali, Tx, Fl, Ga, La, etc....)
Recruiter: Well yeah, we are in fact in MISSISSIPPI, STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI as a matter of fact.
We have some players you might have heard of in the NFL. Chris Jones, he played here when you were 6 or 7 years old, and Jeffrey Simmons played here about when you were 12. You heard of them, yeah?
#1 DL: Yeah, maybe. I think I seen CJ on a superbowl, but I never heard of JS. Who he play for?
Recruiter: Yeah, CJ has played in several SB's and is one of the aging stars in the NFL and JS is a star also but plays for a team you've never heard of unless you follow Nashville teams. We also had some really good DL in the league about the time you were born, too!
#1 DL: Cool, Cool. I appreciate the call and wanting to set up a visit but I'm in (Cali, Tx, Fl, Ga, La, etc....) and USC, UCLA, Wash, Ore, OhSt, Mich, Tx, TxAm, LSU, Ala, Fla, Ga, PnSt etc........ kinda got my schedule full. Um, did CJ and JS come from (Cali, Tx, Fl, Ga, La, etc....)? If so, I'ma keep y'all on the top of Pg3 in my recruiting portfolio and if things fall through with USC, UCLA, Wash, Ore, OhSt, Mich, Tx, TxAm, LSU, Ala, Fla, Ga, PnSt etc........ I might give y'all a holla.
Recruiter: Um yeah, well no CJ and JS and Fletcher Cox were all from Ms and within a 100 miles from campus. Thanks for taking my call.
#1 DL: Yeah, like I said you on top of Pg3. So, um, yeah.
