I’m not here to complain on a daily basis, but losing a portal recruit to Kentucky (after it was announced we have plenty of funding and can get anyone we want) should scream that there big issues with our program. I don’t condone the non-stop rain clouds and negativity spreading but I’m not sure how anyone can have any optimism at all. D Lineman Bryce Butler of Washington was going to visit tomorrow, instead he made a commitment to Texas Tech today.
On another note, Nebraska had the best winning % in all of D1 for first semester. Football, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball only had 9 losses combined.

Two highly concerning things happened today that were more alarming than the QB flip. The Maciejack kid committed to Wyoming, further solidifying the evidence that kids who have been recruited here are not B1G or P4 players. Then the huge DT from UCF decided to stay with Frost rather than visit here or anywhere else. Also, Its clear that some kids who have choices are taking less money than they might get here to play for programs that are winning more. To this point, albeit early in the process, we have six cancelled visits and one commit.
I love this program and what it has meant in my life. However, the three national championships that have occurred in my lifetime have cost me $0 in donations outside of basic ticket packages. I won't be giving any more than that.
I hope this is a very black and white offseason. I hope that they fill all positions of need with P4 players. Or, I hope they strikeout completely, so that there is no way that the soft football media in this state can sell any hype. I am hoping simply for a clear picture. We're either going to shore up deficiencies and compete in every game, or we are going to be horrid, leaving no doubt from the outset.

The Maciejack may work out at Wyoming, at least it wasn't like Bemidji St that he transferred to.

I don't think the DT from UCF was getting the money he was looking for because he isn't going to be healthy for spring and he is a 1 year dude, he was already a huge dude with injuries nearly every year. I think I read he was averaging like 15-18 snaps a game over the course of his career. He isn't turning down offers from the schools that were listed to play at UCF for one more year.

I think it’s going to be a very quiet off season. No need for hype. To me what little amount of remaining hope has dried up.

Even more concerning is that Rhule didn't prepare for this. We have 10 commits in the 2026 recruiting class. No QB. It's like Rhule just assumed he was some magical ************ and everything would be good. Now, we are going to be in a hole because of a lost recruiting class. This is something you see during a coaching change, not during a coaches 3rd year at a program while returning for a 4th.

Rhule can't be gone fast enough. Thanks to Dannen, though, some booster is gonna have to pony up mad cash next year to get rid of this asshat.

We know that Matt is awful at adjustments. We see it on and off the field.

the 2026 class is what killed me. There’s just really no excuse for it. They say the team is lopsided with underclassman but we are seeing some of those kids hit the portal. You had to understand that wss going to happen and you could have taken more. I think the staff is lazy when it comes to recruiting

We could have had him IF we wanted to match Kentucky’s ridiculous offer for a backup QB with crappy spring game video who has taken a dozen game snaps in garbage time. I would rather bring Chubba Purdy back at a third that money to backup Lateef.

Wow. Rational post 😉. I wasn’t sold on Minchey. I thought he was being brought in to compete but might not beat out Lateef
Here is the problem with that approach. What if Minchey showed up but was outperforming TJ all the time in practice? But you didn’t bring him to beat out TJ, you have an issue because he wasn’t supposed to be better. Do you have the guts to bench your guy?

I think the reality is that the banter you heard all season long about NU being the youngest team in the B1G, having like 70+ underclassmen, is no doubt true. The REAL problem could be, and probably is that very few of those guys have developed. We know this Staff has been very poor at player development. You have seen a very few players that have gotten better here. So the roster may in fact be clogged with D2 level players who are not making progress. If you know you have a bunch of guys who you can not play, you have to take the Deion route and try to buy a team. Many of these guys have been here for two years and apparently very few ( Mills, Clark, and Pietrzak ) have been able to contribute. The approach this year is indeed alarming. 11 recruits?? WTF ?? I still question if this staff has even been able to understand who our better players actually are ( EJ is a prime example, until Dana got here he was 3rd on depth chart ) and if that is indeed the case, this must be why guys with a ton of talent like Mcgahee IV are leaving. Do you really think this staff did their homework on portal players or took the lazy approach and just got a subscription from a service that evaluates portal talent? Just shoot fish in a barrel and hope for the best? Bottom line is NU keeps pumping more money into a General Manager, analysts and support staff and yet we still appear to have no clue on what we are doing. How many 3 and 4 star underclassmen do we have and why are they not ready to step up? Is the reason our lines get bullied in league play because our S & C program is awful? A lot of questions need to be asked and answered before this program gets fixed. So far, I hear crickets from Ruhle or the AD.

we're gonna be okay.. we will get who we are supposed to.. we may have dodged a bullet.
Love this angle. We may get who we need, not who we want. Let's be honest, do we REALLY think the only way to win games is with the 10 guys listed on X portal QB rankings? I'm with you, I love the guy from UNLV - we should be so lucky.

Better have. You have a high schooler coming in the next spring. I think UNLV’s QB is a better option than Minchey.

If we were gonna take him, we might as well go get Danny Kaelin from Virginia. Unfortunately, he probably won't come back because he has seen what real coaching is.

Well, you might not laugh if your team could win more than 10 VB games a year and not be 0-41 all time vs Nebraska.
I would still laugh at volleyball. I’ll trust your Iowa volleyball stats, as I honestly never even think of that sport.

Kentucky is simply a better program (has been for a decade) and there are exactly zero quarterbacks that would rather play for Matt Rhule than Will Stein and Joe Sloan.
