Final roster spot - you taking Griffen or Aberdeen?

I’d go Aberdeen he is ready to break out and played very well with Championship experience. I know that Griffen has final 4 experience too, but Aberdeen played better last year.

I’d take Aberdeen by a nose, but would be just as happy with Griffen. They are very similar players.

If we get either of these guys I’ll be pumped because they’re both really good college players.
I trust Pope, so if he takes them, I’ll get behind it. However, up front, both feel like a step back from Jax or Brea.
Between Aberdeen and Dioubate, we'd have two players with big chips on their shoulders against the SEC teams that recruited over them. Could make for an interesting dynamic.
Griffin fits what we need more for the roster, but I think Aberdeen in a enhanced role could be very good

Jax’s shooting numbers are almost the same as Griffen’s. Yes, we won’t have a Koby Brea but we also had difficulty getting Brea shots because that’s almost the only thing he did.
Griffen had one year he shot well outside. The other 2 were early 30's.
Griffen for the likely higher 3 % and better defense. But I’d be happy with either.

Their career 3 point averages are within 0.02 of each other.

I take Aberdeen, his defense is great can play backup point and is a good shooter.
I don’t see Pope taking both. Sisk didn’t think so either. You take too many and you get defections
Nawh they need one. Both would make the roster very overcrowded
Aberdeen is the better defender from I have seen so I would take him. But I am holding out hope for a different guy that is unlikely to happen.
Hmmm. Just saw an NBA scout say he’d take Aberdeen easily over Griffen - says Aberdeen will be all SEC if he ends up at Kentucky…..
Can I ask a honest question? How can you look at the potential roster, with a dude like Oweh coming back, and think oh this roster is missing a stud or they absolutely have to get one?
Yeah but we aren’t choosing in a vacuum for the better player overall. We need to fill a specific role.
I love Oweh but think the team needs another scorer/shooter. JMO
They do, but does that shooter have to a stud level player? Or do we need a player who understands the role and can hit timely shots?

I see it your way. At this point except for Kam Williams who ‘s experience is only one year in a weak conference, we haven’t replaced the perimeter firepower of Jaxson Robinson or Lamont Butler or Koby Brea or Ansley Almonor. Multiple threats get each other open. Single threats, run the weave.
I think Kam Williams will play a similar role to Robinson at BYU before he came here. I would rather have another ball handler like Aberdeen than Griffin personally.
One thing the portal has done for peoples mindsets on roster buildup, is change the way people view the natural progression of most college players. A lot are forgetting dudes like Chandler, Noah, Perry, Oweh, etc make huge jumps in most cases in year 2 in the program. The portal is the new shiny toy, so we think we gotta get something new every time, when in reality the portal should be used to fill holes, instead of be a complete roster building/overhaul technique. I’m guilty of doing all this at times as well. But guys likes Chandler oweh, and garisson make jumps when they have been in the program a couple of years.
That's not true at all. Jax's shooting splits were all significantly better. And Breas were even better. Again, I trust Pope so if he thinks those guys can do it, all good.

Is the difference in handle significant? I agree, without a clearcut backup 1, another dude comfortable with the ball would be useful
Dude I literally posted their career shooting numbers and they were within 0.02 of each other, even after Jax’s 37.4% 3pt career season this year. Go look at it yourself.
