Paul Finebaum's contract with WJOX expires, 'The JOX Roundtable' moves to fill his afternoon time slot

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - Sports-talk radio host Paul Finebaum's contract with WJOX-FM expired Monday, and the mid-day show "The JOX Roundtable" will move into his afternoon slot beginning today.
It remains unclear where Finebaum will go next, and when. He has repeatedly declined to comment on his situation.

Yep, he is reportedly heading to 97.3 the Zone. Deal has been in the works for a while, because Cumulus just didn't appreciate his value. Also, don't be surprised if the Crimson Tide Network makes the same move in B'ham.

Oddly enough, there is still not much money in satellite radio. SiriusXM pays Paul next to nothing for his show.

Have to give Paul a little credit for keeping this quiet. I don't know if his regular callers maybe got a warning call, but the guys at Jox had no idea this was coming until last night.

They knew it was coming. His contract was up and he just got through with a lawsuit against the station, so I feel sure they knew he was leaving. Some of his callers even commented about this contract being up. He wants to go with the ESPN brand network.-- I actually like hearing him. That is of course when I am in the car maybe thirty minutes a day but sometimes it can be very funny and sometimes breaking news.

They SHOULD have known it was coming, yes, but JOX had no idea he was walking out Monday Night. His producer turned in his resignation first thing Monday morning. Monday night Finebaum dropped his bomb, and Tuesday JOX management was in full panic mode. I hear they are firing all the little people just to make Paul feel bad.
