If Franklin is cut loose by PSU (I am VERY skeptical of any chance of that happening, but just playing along) would Schuyler be tit-for-tat cut loose from his gig at CAA?Matt Schuyler. For some reason, Franklin had him twisted around his finger. Who knows? Maybe Franklin had a set of pictures before the people at Hilton did.
I'll be honest, I was elated when we "stole" Knowles from OSU and when they "settled" on Matt Patricia as their new DC along with many other opposing fans. I'm not laughing anymore. That OSU defense might be the most shutdown-suffcating CF defense I've seen in years, They've given up 25 total points in 5 games and a few of those points were garbage time points.I don't think the Knowles defense works with our personnel. We don't have the Dtackles like Ohio state. You can't win if you're giving up 5 yard up the middle on first down

how did your theory hold up with UCLA fans and their team?
I hesitate to respond because I haven't visited their forums or have personal acquaintences who espouse their opinions, feelings, etc., pertaining to their expectations for the UCLA program in general, for this season in particular, and certainly not, prior to the game. Nor have I reviewed media accounts close to their program. If you have such first hand knowledge, do share and it would facilitate a reasonable consideration of your question.how did your theory hold up with UCLA fans and their team?
I think you meant to say, he will always have at least 2 or 3 losses. After the beating they took yesterday, I'm not sure they beat Nkrthwestern. After that, I'm not sure they win again thus year. It's not like they looked bad in a game or two. They have looked terrible for five games in a row.Exactly... PSU has reached its ceiling with JF. He will always have 2-3 losses a season and struggle against top ranked teams. It's becoming like a broken record. If the PSU admin is always good with 9-3 record and some cheesy bowl game or losing in the first round of the playoffs then JF is your guy.
Yeah, I don't know what the issue was but OSU's Eleven Warriors site had an article on this a month or so ago saying the same thing - OSU didn't even bother to make Knowles a realistic counter offer. Kind of like they wanted him to leave for some reasonOSU didn’t even try to keep Knowles. Shouldn’t been a massive red flag.

Student section pregame would be like…How about somebody from the BWICAC!
Consider this:Is Franklin officially on the hot seat?
Your best post ever. Could not agree more…We Are!…better than that! It’s sad and frustrating what has become of the program on the field. Franklin means well and is a good representative of the university. For whatever reason (I’m not inside the program to see what goes on), he is not able to take the program to the next level. It is sad and frustrating. All of that said, the memes are just stupid and undeserved. They aren’t funny. The whole thing is sad and frustrating.
I am of the opinion that firing Franklin is in everyone’s best interests. If it happens, I will wish him well in whatever he chooses to do. He didn’t take the program where any of us or he wanted, but he has done well for the program and university overall. He’s smart, a good man, and a family man. It isn’t working at PSU, but I hope he does well should he move on from PSU.
Let’s please stop with the Franklin memes (clown, McDonald’s, etc.). Jokes are one thing. Insults that are stupid and juvenile are another. Just stop.
The next level? What level is losing to an 0-4 team with no coaching staff that had previously lost to New Mexico? It’s sad and frustrating what has become of the program on the field. Sometimes, the boss that the employees like is the one upper management wants to get rid of at the first opportunity.Consider this:
If the $50 million buyout doesn't exist -- let's pretend it's not there -- is Saturday's loss a fireable offense?
Even with the buyout in place, many people are saying that loss is a fireable offense.
So, if you're looking at this from a neutral perspective -- money isn't a factor -- does Franklin get fired this week? If you think the loss to UCLA *isn't* a fireable offense under normal circumstances, if you think Franklin isn't going to be fired for reasons other than money, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I'll even get the ball rolling:
One reason I heard was that the players overwhelmingly love him. Now, that could be because he's an enabler. He doesn't push them hard, and they love how cushy things are under him... I don't know. But I did hear that the players (both current and past) like him a lot, and that's definitely something to consider, right?
I think we all get the magnitude of the loss. Bob's post is an appeal to decency. Unless you think that clowning the situation and using AI to have the Coach of your team appear in unflattering situations helps it is wise to consider how best to address the situation. The future of the program is not served well by denigrating those in charge now.The next level? What level is losing to an 0-4 team with no coaching staff that had previously lost to New Mexico?
Cig should be at the top of anyone's list. The goal should be a coach who will be out in front of the recent changes to the sport (NIL, transfer portal) and that is Coach Cig. In one year he turned Indiana, arguably the most under supported team in the history of the Big Ten, into a playoff team. Imagine what he could do at a place like Penn State. My choices in order:
1) Al Golden
2) Jon Gruden
3) Kurt Cignetti
4) Bob Chesney
5) Larry Johnson Sr.
The AI generated memes seem to be the digital version of wearing a brown paper bag over your head to the game. Is it a good look? Of course not. Might it change the status quo? Probably not with the buyout, but I assume people are still going to try.I think we all get the magnitude of the loss. Bob's post is an appeal to decency. Addressing the disappointing state of affairs in a mature way is not asking a whole lot.

JVP taught some of us very well. Others, not so much..,I think we all get the magnitude of the loss. Bob's post is an appeal to decency. No the problem is he's too close to retirement.Cig should be at the top of anyone's list. The problem is he comes off like a douchebag. That will rub some people the wrong way at first but if he's winning nobody will care.
I was only addressing the "next level" part of the post, and didn't address the rest (which i agree with fwiw)I think we all get the magnitude of the loss. Bob's post is an appeal to decency. I shared stuff from social media because it’s out there whether you like it or not; it’s the national perspective on PSU. Some fans have just had it. A big reason why?
Bob is usually the one stirring things up here with his not so innocuous posts (which I love), but I get some fans want to ‘embrace the suck’ a bit (Army term for my fellow vets) which is to deploy a defensive mechanism in the face of maximum suckitude that allows one to cope by inviting more and more of it. It works for 16 hour force protection duty shifts in freezing rain - can’t hurt here.
I am against mean spirited personal attacks though - no place for that stuff. And really - we’re stuck with Franklin for at least another two years IMO.
I am not so sure. Watching him on Saturday he had the look of a coach who knew it is done, that I have done all I can do here. I am sure he heard the chants at the Whiteout…IMO
