Five games left... how do you think we finish?

I'm voting 2-3 with losses to Bama, LSU and A&M. Frankly, Arkansas scares me a little, too - they haven't put it all together but that doesn't mean they don't have some good players but I think us playing at home wins the day.

I see the A&M game going a little like the Cam-led Auburn game a few years ago - we'll be in it with a chance to win but will ultimately curse one or two plays that don't go our way.

2-3. I think we beat A&M. Arkansas though seems to be getting its act together, plus they are like LSU in that we seemed cursed to lose to them even when they suck.

Now that excitement within the fanbase has hit a sort of apex not seen in a long time, what would your feelings be if State actually finished 7-5 with this being Mullen's 4th year after such a hot start? I don't see this as happening, but it's certainly possible. It would mean going from possibly being in National Title talks (leading up to Bama game) to finishing the year on an 0-5 run with the last loss being to your in-state rival. Record-wise, it would be similar to last year but it's interesting to consider when you look at the strings of wins and losses and the emotions that snowball with the streaks.

Would he get a pass because of the 9 game winning streak and high rankings or would he begin to be held accountable for never winning the games he's not supposed to win 4 years in to this thing?

I'll give you 3-2, by the way.

4-1. A&M doesn't scare me. We'll force turnovers and our offense is good enough to score points off the turnovers. We get either Bama or LSU. I'm interested to see Arky plays this weekend. Hard to tell how improved they are after wins over Auburn and UK.

3-2. I’ll be optimistic and say we win all of A&M, Ark, and OM. Each of those games is certainly losable, but we should be favored in all 3.

4 & 1 ... yeah, I think this might be the year to break the jinx down in the bayou ... not to worried about Tsun, Arky, or aTm

If we avoid any significant injuries, I would feel comfortable predicting 3-2 wins and would feel like we have an outside shot at 4-1. I think A&M and Ark could give us trouble, but I think we'll score too much for them to keep up with us. I don't think we'll beat LSU, but I don't think either team will score a lot of points, so a lucky break could easily swing that game.

But if we have an injury at either OT spot, I'm not sure our offense can keep up with A&M or maybe even Arkansas. Worse, I'm not sure Russell makes it through the Bama and LSU games if we are playing Robinson at either tackle.

So yes, I would take 3-2 in a heartbeat right now.

2-3. Going to be a lot of disappointment and erroneous finger pointing on the pack. Be prepared.

Like I said after the game Saturday, I am going to post as homeristic as I want this week just to enjoy 7-0 and a chance to control our own destiny.

We end up 5-0 down the stretch.

/I need BMT's "I Believe" fark stat.

I was talking to a friend about this and we were wondering if another 1986 is going to happen. I think we don't think it will but you never know...

Might be, but 9-3 ain't bad. Were not guaranteed to win anymore games. All remaining games could be lost. Don't think that will happen, but it's a possibility.

9-3 means Dan won every game he's supposed to except for one (and if the one is A&M, maybe that should be called a toss-up). That would put Mullen's "bad" losses at 3 for his career: Houston his first year (shouldn't have underestimated the incompetency of that ref), Auburn his third year (came out flat and had a brand new defensive coordinator with a new lb corp and no DE's get worked by a damn good OC), and either A&M, Arky, or UM in his fourth year. I'd be 'disappointed' that we let a good chance to go 10-2 get away, but that wouldn't exactly be underachieving.
