Tulane 2006 was most embarassing from a performance standpoint. We were playing a homeless Tulane team that was essentially a mediocre 1-AA opponent in terms of talent (and was nearly disbanded the year before), and for 3 quarters they kicked the ever loving hell out of us. Throw in the fact that it was Croom's 3rd game of his 3rd season and that he had been shut out in the first two games of that season makes it worse. I had already given up on him being a successful coach the year before, but the depths that we sunk to in that game was mind-blowing. If I remember correctly, Tulane actually put in their 2nd string at the start of the 4th quarter, which was a big reason the final score was close. It's still amazing that we were down 32-7 to a 1-AA quality team fairly late in the game.

The Maine game was most embarassing from an image standpoint, but not so much in how we performed. The game had a flukish feel to it - we moved the ball up and down the field on them but kept shooting ourselves in the foot every time we had a good chance to score. When we lost, I wasn't angry or anything; just stunned that we had lost to MAINE. It didn't sink in until the next day how bad that loss hurt.</p>

I was one of the dozens that actually came back to watch the debacle to its completion after the tornado warning. Anyway, Troy beat the crap out of us. We were never in the game at any point. Plus, there were so many expectations that season that were obviously shot to hell by that point. It seems like the Maine game was lost due in large part to us dicking around and Maine capitalizing on it. Sadly, I dont' think there is a wrong answer on this one.

Sure, the Maine loss was very embarassing, but we did statistically dominate the game. I think we had 5 turnovers in the red zone or something like that. Tulane just completely kicked our ***. Tray Rutland started that game at QB and looked completely helpless. Tulane being up 32-7 on us in the 3rd quarter I think was rock bottom of the Croom era. The only reason we made it close was because Tulane's punter dropped a snap in the end zone and we recovered it, and Croom put Omarr Conner in and just let him draw up plays in the dirt. Shockingly, that seemed to work well, so of course we never let him do that again.
