Last year we moved Richard Figueroa down from 1 to 3 after he was mostly inactive in the first semester. He was obviously the returning NCAA Champ, but his season the year prior was a roller coaster one. On top of that, we felt guys who were competing deserved to move up based on more recent results. But an inferred duck was part of the justification for moving Ty Watters down from #1 at 157.
Flo may be listening that their ranking approach contributes to ducking.
In other words, subjectivity is okay. Also, the hands are tied because subjectivity is verboten. -> <-… My point is that there are some number 1's that have the resume to keep them at 1 if they miss time (or even in some rare cases if they lose), and there are some that don't. If Mesenbrink missed the Iowa dual, we wouldn't drop him. …
If you try it at two B10 tournaments, you could become the Rutger Elite of sarcasm.Man......I clearly suck at sarcasm.
I think that using Rutger and Elite in the same sentence confirms your number one rankingIf you try it at two B10 tournaments, you could become the Rutger Elite of sarcasm.
Objectively, Mesenbrink has a better resume than Watters lolIn other words, subjectivity is okay. Also, the hands are tied because subjectivity is verboten. -> <-![]()
I like your view. I am always skeptical - maybe that is a hangover from the football teamlillidahl dec bozakius 3-0
blaze dec Davino 6-0
Mendez mdec Ngao 6-4
SVN dec Stiles 9-4
Duke dec Cannon 12-4
Mitch mdec Paddy 16-4
Levi dec karchla 19-4
Rocco dec Fishback 22-4
Barr mdec Shumate 26-4
Feldman dec Cole 26-7
The best chances beyond that are Davino beating blaze would change the outcome to 23-10
maybe Bozakius could pull off an upset 20-13 would be the worst case scenario
i think a 23-10 score is very realistic and that is a very good Ohio State Team
LOL Zerban above Duke.Intermat came out this morning. Earl chose to keep Watters at 1, they have Duke at 4 behind Watters, Cannon and Zerban.
Intermat has Blaze at 4, above Larkin but still below 3 loss Ayala.
Duke and Blaze should be #1. They will prove it. MO. Blaze will crush Ayala.Intermat came out this morning. Earl chose to keep Watters at 1, they have Duke at 4 behind Watters, Cannon and Zerban.
Intermat has Blaze at 4, above Larkin but still below 3 loss Ayala.
Zerban has that Levi Haines win on his resume!LOL Zerban above Duke.
The old Andy MCCulley argumentZerban has that Levi Haines win on his resume!
Larkin beat Knox before Blaze did. That is the sum total of the Flo argument on this (correct me if I’m wrong @Kozak ) and why the simple “ladder ranking”algorithm they use has to get chucked out the window every once in a while to reorder, like they did at 157 this week. They just didn’t deign to do it at 133, too busy whiteboarding Wartburg - UNI I guess.Kozak
appreciate you coming here to discuss the rankings.
Care to justify Larkin over Blaze?
Blaze undefeated Larkin Mff for a loss.
Best win for both Knox. Blaze pin as he was teching him. Larkin regular decision.
Larkin didn’t wrestle Frost (loss) or Fugitt
Next best wins Blaze Berginc and Daugherty. Larkin is Campbell.
no objective way to have Larkin higher.
Yeah, Voelker is out for the year. I believe he had shoulder surgery@Kozak 285 Wyatt voeker was number 10 or eleven last week and is out this week with out an explanation, just wondering if you forgot the explanation or voeker is all
Do u think Cannon has 0% chance? He seems extra locked in this year. The only realistic way Ohio State could even come close to winning:
125: Bouzakis 3-0
133: Davino 6-0
141: Mendez 10-0
149: SVN 10-3
157: Duke 10-6
165: Brink 10-10
174: Levi 10-13
184: Fishback 13-13
197: Barr 13-17
HWY: Feldman 17-17
A random pin by say Bouzakis or Mendez could realistically be about the only way there would be a chance, and that’s already on top of the chances of the upsets in those predictions happening as well.
There is also a realistic chance Paddy gets tech’d by Brink, Barr gets bonus at 197, Levi at ‘74.. and so on.
A 23-10 score like you predicted is a way more likely scenario/prediction then mine… that’s for certain and I can easily admit to as a Buckeye fan.
Cannon lost to a high school kid this year.Do u think Cannon has 0% chance? He seems extra locked in this year.
Yeah, he’s also ranked #1 somehow.. think there was also a previous #1 at a diff weight that also lost to a high schooler.Cannon lost to a high school kid this year.
Yes I love it too, at least flo tries and explain their rankings. Intermat used to not. They used to just put out a list of names and numbers next to them. Now they are doing a small logic explanation I noticed. They penalized Lilledahl for losing to a teammate, that doesn't count in his record per the NCAA, but I guess losing to a HS kid doesn't count in their rankings. I am really not a rankings guy, since the only one that matters is the coaches' ranks, but i love how flo tries to justify what they do.
