I really wish would stop the nonsense about our schedule being easier next year
We open with Washington on the road...and that won't be easy
Then our first two big ten game are against
A home game against likely 12-0 Iowa
A road game against likely 12-0 Ohio state
A home game against likely 9-3 Michigan (whose of their three losses to top10 ten teams, two were by a score)
Best realistic case is we are 3-3, but 0-3 in the conferences with six more confrence games...
And I don't see a layup in the last 6 consisting of Illinois,at Maryland, Indiana, penn state , at Michigan state and at Minnesota

How are we playing Iowa, Illinois and Minn? I thought we play two cross over (west Div) games a year.
Conference goes to a 9-game schedule so no Army next year. Iowa instead. But the schedule is going to be "easier" LOL!
I don't care about signing day or keeping the class together. That seemed like a priority for pernetti back when we got into this mess and look where it got us? That class? They're seniors now and we're still getting blown out on a regular basis.
When Pernetti promoted Flood to replace Schiano, the money he saved on the HC compensation was redirected elsewhere (some within the football program, and some to other areas). Don't forget, Pernetti was under considerable pressure to reduce the subsidy, and received bonuses for doing so. Reduction of the subsidy is something that is directed from the BOG, and predates the current administration.
But the "we don't have the money" argument is a myth. Julie is managing a budget that is in the range of $70MM. She may not have the money to incur a new $30MM expanse, but one or two million is really not that difficult. She should be able to find that within her budget, or make a cognizant argument that the additional expenditure is needed.
I have confidence that JH can make the right argument to get budgetary approval to replace Flood with a higher cost coach. Whether she presents the argument really depends on whether she is short-term focused or long-term focused.
Keep in mind, with a real coach it's not just his pay but a real coach will demand money for assistants and they may require certain facilities upgrades. Ether way, it will be worth it.
That idiotic raise and extension last year put the AD into a bad spot because it looks bad to do that for your coach and then fire him after one losing season a little more than a year later. Whoever was behind that was a complete sh t for brains, for many reasons. Only fudd's undercover activities might be a get out of jail free card but even that seems to have expired. The time to use it was when the whole charade came to light.

Wasn't that Bob Mulcahy's MO. Extended Shea, fired him a year later. Extended Bannon, fired him a year later. Extended Waters, fired him a year and a half later. Extended FHJ, left for Pernetti to fire 2 years later.

So you have a higher tolerance for pain than most of us. You weren't around for Shea. Rutgers is on a steep slide down to being an awful program...again. Sitting around and letting this guy ruin a program that was getting respect isn't the smart move. For me Flood's off the field issues are a bigger problem. There is no respect for running a clean program anymore. Its one thing if Rutgers was winning 10 games but why should the Rutgers community put up with a coach who sucks and breaks the rules?
The USF win and going to a bowl game was the worst thing that happened to RU football.
Yeah, maybe I do. I just think we need to get a new president first. We have to make the rutgers offer as attractive as possible. The right president can rally the troops and get the academics and politicians on board. Revenue neutral is just bs. We need to get the shovels going. I am not convinced (yet) that flood is damaged goods. These blow outs were disappointing but we've had some really good games as well. We shall see said the blind man.

I find Rutgers to be a very difficult gig for many coaches. I don't know of too many quality coaches that would take the job. Ok let's roll the dice with a tier two coach. Let's talk salary. Can we find one for 1.25 million? Probably not, so realistic minds say we're looking at 2.25 million. He will probably want to bring in his own OC/DC and assistants which will be an upgrade to our current staff. It will also be profoundly more expensive. Figure an increase of 3.5 million per year to our current football budget. This will cost an additional $8 per seat assuming you sell out each game. You can pass the increase onto the students as a $100 flat fee per year or how about renegotiating a higher indirect cost rate on your research grants so you can redirect state appropriations towards the athletic department. The final option is to hire a good coach and tell him to work with the current budget.
Completely defeatist attitude. This is the same mentality that has held Rutgers back over the years... No vision, no appetite for risk or outside the box thinking. Just one dimensional high school level decision making that dooms Rutgers to mediocrity. Some of our fans actually think Flood is capable of consistently beating good teams, and they also think he can recruit at the B1G level. Insane. And I venture to guess that some of our administration actually believes this as well. It's pathetic, but more importantly, it's dangerous.
This mindset scares the heck out of me as a 16 yr season tix holder and double RU alum. This way of thinking will hinder the growth of the program. I will never root against our players to lose but is the only way Flood is let go is for RU to go winless the rest of the season? What else does Flood have to demonstrate to show he is not the guy to lead this program going forward.

How many coaches not producing do the honorable thing and forgo a buyout.
The claim should be: Barchi should Do the honorable thing and OK Flood be replaced ASAP and pay his buyout .

As for calling out Flood supporters, I was one but not anymore.
Didn't like his hiring, but felt since he was hired would give him support.
The way he ended his first season turned me a little against him , but felt he might improve
because it was his first year as a HC so didn't push for him to be fired on this board.
His second year had me go against him , but again gave him a chance and wasn't one of the ones calling for his head on this board.
After last year I was a supporter and felt he was improving as a HC and his recruiting looked a little better, so I defended him before this season startled.
But he has proved himself incompetent on and off the field this season , so now a member of the Flood must go crowd.

Running programs on the cheap tends to do that and usually costs more then if you made the right move in the first place and was willing to pay for production rather than gamble on someone being able to do it.
Once Mulcahy started investing in RU FB, he still ran the other sports programs on the cheap because of a lack of funding.

Agree. -And do you notice, very often, since that type of stance can't really be logically explained or defended, ( e.g., Flood is "doing fine as CEO under the circumstances"...WHAT circumstances might those be??), there's then resort to some sort of snarky remark like the thread being "the hall of fame of unaccomplished whiners", as if that kind of comment provides any reasoned basis at all for keeping KF as the Scarlet Knights' head guy.
The truth of the matter is Flood got the Rutgers HC'ing job by default, wasn't qualified for the position when he got it, hasn't grown into it in the 4 years he's had it, and is running this program and its reputation right into the ground.
Hey, it's anyone's right to love and support KF and follow him off the cliff into college football oblivion if they want, but game by game, predictable blowout loss by predictable blowout loss, your numbers are becoming fewer and fewer.

None of the bad stuff is his fault, he doesn't call the plays, he doesn't run the defense, he doesn't run the routes, he doesn't catch the balls....bla bla bla....But as SOON as something good happens, a play goes right, or we come back from behind to beat a mediocre team, Flood becomes the greatest and smartest guy in the world. They seem to forgot that Flood doesn't any control any of the team when that happens.
And for what its worth the arrest are under his watch and absolutely he should bare some responsibility, he should have an eye on what goes on off field. He ruined the shinning selling point about our program. I feel embarrassed to say now that we run a "clean program". When I mention RU Football I get, "Isn't that where all those kids got arrested?" How many arrests or academic violations did we have under Schiano?
And its a joke to say Flood didn't recruit this players. He was here with Schiano for years, he recruited with him, he coached with him, he was a freaking assistant HC. His biggest selling point to RU was that he can continue what Schiano started, he knew RU in and our and he was the one that could pick up where Schanio left.TP was so adamant about keeping staff here (which GS picked off anyway), that we couldn't bring on someone else. We hired so we could continue and have no lapse in changing leaders.That was his BIGGEST pro for hiring him. Now all the sudden he needs time to implement "his system" and recruit his stye of players...give me a break. Next year you guys will push the goal post further when we go 2-10.
