I did the spray, throw, and mow method for millet earlier this summer and it worked great.

I haven’t tried it for fall food plots though.

If you go this route, don’t plant early. Too much risk of too hot and too dry. I wouldn’t take a chance if it was mine, put in the time and sweat to do it right.

I had a small spot last year that I tried a bag of throw and grow on and it did better than I expected. All I did was spray it with glyphosate the middle of August. Waited 2 weeks and sprayed it again. Put out the mix about the middle of September when it was supposed to rain and luckily it did. Clover seed is cheap and I did throw out a couple of pounds of that over it the next time it started raining.

We do soybeans in our food plots in the spring or summer and then winter wheat in the fall. It’s fairly easy. The wheat gives them something to eat in late winter.

I did it last year, mainly because I was having tractor issues and it kind of forced me to do it.....it worked.....hard to say how well it worked..i chased rain and when i finally chased it down, it wasn't very significant....i plan to do a plot trial this year though.....going to half one way and half of it the other way for full verification.

We did no till last year. Think the extension service put the idea in my dad’s head. We’ve been tilling the past several years. Blew my mind how much more efficient tilling was after years of discing.

Bush hogged it and went over it with a mower. I was not impressed with the results. May have been more to do with the weather early last fall though. Seems like it was drier than normal September and October last year? Anywho, back to tilling this season.
