Congratulations! A huge sense of pride. No other school should or is permitted to disagree with this.https://www.maxpreps.com/m/news/m1HRm9Xrzk-6UHECzDxKog/greatest-high-school-football-dynasties-in-all-50-states-–-then-and-now.htm

What's a Shelby? Not sure where to start with this one.
Our first thought is this guy would write a story on Super Bowl dominance…..and never mention the New England Patriots.
Beyond clueless. But rest assured, a copy of this text is headed right to MaxPreps and this writer. Our work never ends.
In both cases, then and now, he completely violates his own criteria as he describes it.
And then contradicts himself.
Where do these writers come from?
The MaxPreps writer Kevin Askeland starts with this ;
Whether its forms of government, 1980s TV shows or high school football programs, dynasties rarely last for long periods of time. Due to shifting demographics, new coaches or new schools, there's always something that brings a dynasty to an end.
Today's dynasty could be tomorrow's also-ran, so MaxPreps is taking a look at the football dynasties that ruled in each state during the 20th century and those that have made their mark in the 21st century.
For North Carolina.
The writer states this;
Then:Reidsville
No school in North Carolina has won more state championships than the Rams, who have put up 22 titles dating back to 1930.
While correct, it does not follow his criteria of roughly pre-2000 as THEN and post-2000 as NOW.
Most of Reidsville’s Titles occurred before 1970.
Yet he includes several from post-2000 to make his case.
And the elephant in the room he fails to mention is the 31 consecutive recent years from 1971 through 2001 where Reidsville even failed to play in a Title game.
We have always acknowledged that Reidsville was the dominant force in NC high school football for the first 50 years (1920-1970) of the 100 years many programs have played. But this writer starts off defining his THEN and NOW as 1920-2000 and 2001-2021. An cumbersome year for the division at best.
So that brings us to his NOW.
The writer states this
Now:Butler (Matthews)
The Bulldogs have been a consistent winner with a 200-48 record the past 20 years including three state championships at the 4A classification
Butler? Really? Even Butler posters are scratching their heads. Butler hasn’t won or played for a title in 10 years.
Butler had a great run there, and is still very competitive. But what this writer ignores is mind boggling. Unless he chose a reason to ignore it.
There are no less than 20 programs that have won at least 3 State Championships in their classifications in the last 20 years.
6 are in 4A. And all remain very competitive.
But there are many that have won more than 3.
And are winning at a rate higher than Butler.
Let’s cut to the chase.
It has to be agenda driven for this writer to dismiss the Shelby High School program with 7 State Championships in the last 9 years, and 2 State Championships in 4 Appearances in the decade before. Shelby’s win totals and winning percentage since 2000 is significantly higher, all while playing 40 % of its schedule against bigger schools of higher classifications. It’s a no brainer.
So why the snub?
Easy. He is catering to the 4A markets in the larger cities to gain their favor. Doesn’t matter if it’s a wildly inaccurate take.
He already gave props to 2A Reidsville in the THEN.
Her can’t possibly also give it to 2A Shelby for the NOW.
There is only one True Dynasty in NC High School Football. The most successful, SUSTAINED, winning program for 110 years now.
The Shelby Golden Lions.
And the Shelby Dynasty has not ended, despite the writers prediction. We are defending champs and have the most wins in NC history.
Nor has it taken a 31 consecutive recent year break from a Title Game appearance.

What did Butler do to Shelby to get this type of venom?
With the exception of their first season, Butler has a winning record every year. They opened in 97. They have been the most consistent meaning a down year for Butler is 3-4 loses. I honestly think if Butler would have finished off Grimsley and beat Gibbons in this wouldn’t be a discussion. Since that didn’t happen if the timeframe is the last 20 years I wouldn’t complain if it was Richmond County or Shelby. If the timeline is 10 years I would pick Mallard Creek.
