I stand by my statement. They are 5th in debt. California, New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey lead the way. California and New York are more than double Illinois' debt
Pretty much any Illinois’ administrator’s stance since April. Thanks for trying so hard for the kidsIf I was forced to make a bet I would say no football in spring.
I don’t think we talked about it enough for the last 40 years of their fleecing of us.How come politics has to enter every conversation now for everything we do in life?
Don't they know we just want them to get out of our way and let us live our lives.

Funny you say that, I just told a buddy today that maybe tearing down a football field we want to play in will get their attention (of course, I kid). But only if people burn stuff, don't forget that.

I agree. I find that unfathomable and disheartening. I would expect with the amount of non-corroborating data on all sides of the issue, that there would be vigorous debate raging daily. But, instead nothing, just nothing out of our most educated leaders with a bit of authority and that’s weird.Speaking of admins. I have not seen many (any?) public school districts come out as being pro high school football right now.

Awesome in theory but the IHSA could and would crucify the teams involved. There would be suspension of programs, firings of AD’s and Coaches, if anyone got hurt the insurance claims would be denied....Now if two teams just so happen to meet at a public park....What if the schools, parents and students just played the games anyway in the fall?
I mean look at all that happened to our city and our local government did nothing.

100% factualI have a very close friend principle who is pissed they aren't in school full time doing everything they can. He told me its all the unions keeping them home and there's no budging.
You are correct. JB is in it for the power. He is worth more than Trump. Trump 2.1 Billion, JB 3.4 Billion.Governor is much more interested in power than freedom for the people.
No he won't! When there are more people getting, than people who are paying, the people getting will always vote for their lunch ticket, JB. Sorry Edgy for the politic talk but I just can't take this anymore! He will only be a 1 term guy.
He is literally lining his pocket with $$$ every additional test that is taken. Then he says covid is endangering kids when since the "pandemic" started there has been 50 (15-19 year olds) lives taken by a gun in Illinois versus 3 COVID-19 deaths. So by keeping kids out of school and not participating in after school activities JB is actually endangering the lives of the kids more than the coronavirusI’ve said it before but I think this has more to do with JB doing completely the opposite of the president’s wishes. The prez has dropped a number of digs on Illinois, right or wrong. Maybe with a change in November there will be loosening up but he’s gonna rule his way for now.
No need to repeat yourself
Pritzker hates Jesus, America, horses and Elvis too ... even Tom Petty.
Talking smack about Petty should get you a few days!I guess I'll miss you all.
Like 2 of you
This is a key point. Name a teacher's union that is calling for in-house schooling, let alone the resumption of sports. And in regards to the state of IL's many problems, one of the biggest is state government's fealty to public sector unions.I have a very close friend principle who is pissed they aren't in school full time doing everything they can. He told me its all the unions keeping them home and there's no budging.
I feel like no football in the spring is a death knell for the have-nots in the Chicagoland area.
I just think the year off (again, assuming FB isn’t back until Aug 2021) is going to make it tough to recruit in the hallways in schools that haven’t had the success of others. Why is that?
I hate to have to say this. But a lot of what I am reading here about the state, who is elected, etc. are things I have been saying since the late 80s. No one wanted to listen back then because it didn't directly affect them...although it did. In general people don't pay attention to what's going on with those in powerl until it comes home to hurt them. Then it's usually too late.
Back in the early to mid 80s I never planned to leave Illinois. As time went on that all changed and in the last 10 years it has really ramped up. I am the same way as some others. My dad is 87. I am really the only one here who can take care of anything he would need although he is very self-sufficient. There is another family member, but sadly, she can't handle what would need to be done. He is the only one keeping me here. If he passes before I do I am gone from this state too. This state is a mess and has been for decades.
He's just got a long faceTalking smack about Petty should get you a few days!
Unfortunately, I think you're right. The teacher's unions can't cry genocide if it's okay to play football. So JB will make the teacher's unions happy.I think it ramps them up. Looking at other states Governors dug in their feet as pressure started grow then did an about face a few weeks later. Sadly I think IL is different and there will be no winter or spring sports.
I'll stick up for IHSA. They had no choice. IDPH sat on proposals for weeks, then would approve them, then change stuff at the 11th hour. IHSA wanted to play. They put it in JB's hands so that HE would have to tell these kids that their parents are stupid and want them dead. Because COVID is so dangerous for them. Because HE sees science and data that he won't share with anyone else. Side note: has anyone seen then South Park from years ago about the Book of Mormon? It reminds me of JB with his special science and data. This was a 75 yard Hail Mary pass. Did anyone think this ignorant billionaire would budge? I won’t get too much into the politics but we as a State suck at electing people. Everyone knew he would play the kids safety card and the million people in this state that care less about sports will back him by that statement alone.
The on going joke was we would have a vaccine by or shortly after the election and it appears to be going that way, so Spring will happen.
IHSA gave him control. Despite their recent efforts to right their wrong, they panicked and and passed the buck.Shame on them.
In many regards I agree on IHSA but they are also suppose to represent the best interest of the membership...which are member schools and they really haven't done much of anything remotely looking like support or representing anyone but themselves here.I'll stick up for IHSA. The interesting thing no one is talking about is that the IHSA truly answers to principals..and has anyone asked them what they feel/think and/or would vote on this issue?
