one of the schools he mentioned Florida State. FSU bricked in their whole stadium in their recent expansion/renovation. and that picture looks similar to what FSU did.
That would look really sharp. I hate the plaster/stucco on both of our stadiums.
I wish we'd go the brick route. Expensive, but it looks classy and stands the test of time if you go with a traditional color, which at OM is Burlington Modular. I'm sure MSU has a standard brick these days too.
leads to a better looking campus. One need only look at the Henry Center, with it's elevated trailer on one end and space shuttle-inspired features to see that our campus's varying architecture was an eyesore.
That stadium looks awesome. I may be in the minority, but I like the south end zone as is - being open toward the campus (and prime tailgating spots) is unique.
prior to estimating and budgeting ... however, with that being said I really hope we keep the brick ... with sports venues it seems the final say so has to do with asthetics in lieu of function a lot of times so the brick just might remain but I think it's a long shot if they have budget issues ... precast is so much cheaper but offers very little in the way of ambiance
From the looks of it, I'm guessing that they are hoping to tear down the grandstand and build one with two decks, and one that has better sight lines, as well as adding seats all the way to the foul poles.
That end zone addition looks similar one at USM. I had heard that the Ninja visited Giannini before he left to look at the end zone suites down here and make notes. They're very well done.
