Just curious how they may be going, I don't remember getting this kind of email so early in the year before? Thoughts? Signed from coach Lebby, or whatever marketing person did it!1000007495.png

The marketing team is doing their part our fans aren’t. Regardless how you feel about Lebby, this fan base has to start showing support and attending games. We have to show either the current administration or the next HC candidate pool this fanbase will support the program through attendance and NIL. Being negative is one thing, but we have far too many on this message board in socials and other message boards that do nothing but degrade the school and team you supposedly cheer far. We as a fan base need to grow a pair and stop being so damn negative.

I've renewed mine, and yes kudos to the marketing team, lots of communication, a couple of tchotchkes for signing up early, and drawings for prizes that will be held daily for 3 or so weeks.

It's a 2-way street.
We need to win games absolutely. But we also have to support the program through attendance. The administration has and is doing there part to help with atmosphere kudos to them. Yes wins have to come.

Man we always have this debate. The fans have been doing their part more than anyone has expected. The football program keeps putting trash on the field and we keep putting butts in the seats. At some point, you gotta stop blaming the fanbase and start holding the football program more accountable.

I held my nose and renewed my tickets. I don't blame anyone who didn't though. It's kinda foolish to rush and shell out thousands for the right to get kicked in the balls. That's what we've gotten for our money for the past few years.

Lou Holtz said the reason he took the South Carolina job was because they sold their stadium out during their losing years.
Low expectations is a wonderful thing.

I'm sure he didn't mind posting that 33-37 (19-29) record while putting a few million in the bank. But they did have a couple of outback bowls to celebrate.

You haven’t been to game since Moorehead was coach. So sit this one out. You’re the exact member of the fanbase that does more harm than good.

Since you brought up Moorhead, our teams "since Moorhead" are a combined 46-53. Do you have a timeline on when they are going to "start doing their part"?

What about our football program "since Moorhead" makes fans want to attend? Players transferring in and out after 1 season or even a partial season before anyone even learns their name? Ticket contribution prices going up? The new Bulldog Club parking lot contribution fee? Must be those fancy new disco lights that we got to see in 1 true night game last year and in a couple later afternoon ones while it was still daylight? Fans are getting tired of athletics wanting more and getting less in return

Just renewed mine. I do think that the overall messaging/communications from the athletic office are generally better and more slick since Selmon took over, and they seem to be running more promotions than in the past (one of the last emails I got mentioned a "refer a friend" program that rewards you for conning new folks into buying season tickets with everything from gear to a free parking pass). Same thing with the videos and overall football gameday experience - just feels a little more professionally done to me. Plus, my kids and I enjoy going to the games, so I went ahead and renewed them.

Having said that ... whether we'll actually be in those seats in November for Vandy, AU and Tennessee Tech will likely depend on what happens in September and October.

When you are as emotionally and financially devoted to something as you clearly are to MSU athletics, I get how frustrating it is to look around and see others not helping. That said, I really hope that this isn't the mindset of our athletic department because if it is, then it's no wonder as to why we are where we are.

This isn't HS football, and they aren't asking fans from just down the street to pick up a $10 ticket at the gate and to think about buying some popcorn and a drink at the concession stand. They are asking families to spend thousands of dollars on travel, tickets, donations, and now NIL so that they can come watch an outmatched team and coaching staff flounder. I mean, I'm excited as hell about Nolan's upcoming Odyssey movie, and I plan on taking my family on opening weekend. Imagine, though, that movie being a complete abomination while losing hundreds of millions of $$$, and then the studio blames the failure on the public for not supporting it with ticket sales.

Hold on to the years of an endless romance between college football fans and the sport for as long as you want, and that's your prerogative. But those days are over for a lot of people, and I mean A LOT. If you want their hard earned money and limited time, it's on the school, coaches, and team to earn it.

A pretty good comparison, but a better one would be what if you had to invest in the movie and buy tickets before it was produced, and when you finally see it it’s bad. And then the production company tells you that you need to invest more money than you did before for the next one, and they’re raising the prices on the next movie’s tickets so they’ll be able to make a better movie for you next time.

I have gone from 6 seats and 4 gridiron, to 4 and 2 last year, to nothing this year. I'm not going to keep paying more and more for the product we are receiving.

I think a lot of us are just dealing with Battered Fan Syndrome and are tired/frustrated with how our team has performed the past two seasons. Couple that with our rival doing well, SUX.

"Contributing nothing"?

MSU has contributed head coaching salaries including buyouts and bonuses of $44.425 MILLION DOLLARS to Moorhead, Leach, Arnett, and Lebby in salaries. Are you happy dumping $44.425 MILLION DOLLARS for being 7 games under .500 and calling that "pretty damn good"? Lebby has had the nerve to take $8.7 MILLION for going 7-18 for heavens sake. He even got a damn bonus of $150,000 for going to the mayonnaise bowl because nobody else would participate.

You are happy and think that's "pretty damn good" huh?

I can't believe we didn't tie any post season bonus to at least having a winning season...

MSU has paid $1,242,857 to Lebby for each win he has here and that's "pretty GD good" and its the fans fault and they should give more to make it better . Are you listening to yourself at all?

We haven't had any results that I would consider anywhere near the word "good" since the pirate departed.
Yet I paid for my 2 and the donation again just this afternoon.

Winning cures all to increase attendance... but I had the conversation aGAIN last week that I have with most State alumni.

Dude sees my State garb. We have a conversation. He tells me all about being a football manager in the early 90s and knowing all these great athletes across all sports from that era. I begin talking about current events.

"I haven't been to Starkville but once in 25 years and that was for my boys baseball tournament." This person lives in Birmingham.

I don't know what you have to do to get people back. Other than win.
