Just got their *** kicked by LSU to lose their 8th game out of their last 10. They went from a probably NCAA tournament team to most likely not even an NIT invite.

They were horrific away from home all year.

First year in a new system. Best player transferred before the season. Their scoring leaders, from highest to lowest, are a Fr, So, So, Jr, Fr, Fr, Fr, SR.

Anotherwords, they were a team almost exclusively playing newcomers/young guys, in a new system, with almost ZERO Sec/Postseason experience. If it was a team chock full of battle-tested upperclassmen(like us), then it would be a much bigger story.

Get ready for them. They are going to be VERY tough in the seasons to come....

When was Arkansas ever "probably an NCAA Tournament team"? They didn't pick up an RPI Top 100 win til they beat us in January. Nice try though.

I'd say perhaps the week they beat us, and that's it. Soft non conference, and a grand total of 2 weeks with a SEC record above .500. They won 1 game outside of Bud Walton the entire year, and that was @Auburn in the 3rd to last game of the season.

Some guy on this board predicted that eventually teams figure out how to handle Mike Anderson's style of play. He said that Anderson's teams at Missouri had success early in his tenure... until people figured out what was coming and learned to deal with it. Maybe he (the unnamed poster) was right.

OK, a big stretch. But still, to go from 16-6 to 18-14 is a pretty bad collapse.

A similar thing happened to Nolan Richardson years ago. When Arkansas came into the SEC no one knew how to handle them and their press but after a few years they faded away once the novelty of 40 minutes of hell wore off.

Mizzouhad him for 5 seasons. He made the NCAAs each of his last 3 seasons. They finished 3rd, 5th, and 5th in the olddeep Big12. He won 31, 23, and 23 games in those years.
Saying teams figured him out would suggest they then stopped his teams from having success. And those were successful seasons.
