When the Mayo bowl ended my son was mad and said “I HATE being a State fan!”
It really do be like that sometimes.

I can feel it down in my plums .... with a blueish hue ....
I felt like that seeing all the godless heathens squirting mayo down their throats. It was almost as bad as watching our offensive and defensive line play.

My kids grew up 35 miles from UGA but I influenced them all to be State fans. Sometimes I do feel a twinge of regret.
No regrets. It builds character. (I keep telling myself**)

I choose to attend grad school at State. I feel in love with a successful football team, winning basketball, and Polk-flavored baseball. Since then….
It is tough. I used to be die hard “My kids are going to State”… Now, I don’t really care where they choose to go to college.

One of mine ended up at a sister SEC institution and had a remarkable experience there. I’m very grateful for that.
Another of mine went to state. I won’t bad mouth state or compare because the china virus wrecked a good bit of the college experience and that wouldn’t be fair to compare.
I have also grown out of the thought process of "my kids will go to State". I refuse to force this on anyone else. I hope they do choose it for bonding purposes but I'm not going to be mad if they don't.
To be honest can you truly be a State Fand not hate being a State Fan at times.
