Let's just hope that Freeze isn't as good of a coach as Mullen. Also, I think the state of their program right now is MUCH more similar to ours in 2003, rather than ours in 2008. Personnel and discipline wise. They just fired their coach a year earlier than we did. And proof again that keeping a lame duck results in epic beatdowns.<div>

One was a long-time college assistant and coordinator who won a lot of titles and coached a couple of Heisman winners. The reaction to the hire nationally was positive. The other has a total of 3 years as a college assistant but has been a head coach at the HS and Div. III level and has had success at those levels. The reaction nationally to the hire was lets just say not positive. Really the only similarity is that neither had been a Div. I head coach before. Of course none of thatmeans thatFreeze can or can't win at Mississippi. We'll see. Either way, I'm not too concerned who their head coach is. As long as we're hiring good coaches and taking care of our business, we'll be OK. And if we're not, we won't be OK no matter how bad of a train wreck they may have in Oxford.
The Freeze hire is closer to the Dooley hire at UT than our Mullen hire. Most State fans were ecstatic when Mullen was announced and he quickly said and did things to unite the fanbase. Most Bear fans were underwhelmed by the Freeze hire and I don't think he's done a lot to warm over the already fractured fanbase. The Bear fans I know expected a Tressell/Meyer/Rich Rod hire and Huge Freeze simply failed to meet their delusions of gridiron grandeur.
Not suggesting they shouldn't bring it up or be proud of it. I would if the scenario were reversed, but if history would repeat itself over the next decade and Freeze managed to keep his job, he will have beaten us 5 to 6 times. Knowing our history only has a handful of seasons worth bragging about and they have the 50s/60s plus a handful of other seasons, color me unimpressed with that "dominating" record over us...
but since the games have been back on campus - 1991 - we lead 12-9 (57.14%). It's about the same winning percentage as 60-42 (58.8%).
