Following those "in know," sounds like some are laying the groundwork that Auburn's NIL will be the deciding factor. And you can also see Ole Miss scrambling to build up their war chest over next two weeks.
#goatpostWhy is it a bad decision for him? He makes more $$, longer contract guarantee, and has higher NIL structure.
Just depends on if he has his sights set on bigger things than Auburn or is willing to settle for a 2nd tier national powerhouse. Still a damn good program if their administration and boosters can every get out of their way. But will never be a true top 10 program. Why is it a bad decision for him? He makes more $$, longer contract guarantee, and has higher NIL structure.
I think it will be announced after Egg/before Iron.I doubt it’s announced until after Iron Bowl

Seems like he will get a lot more money to put up with similar levels of booster crazy/interference and do it at a more prestigious school. He'd probably love nothing more than flipping the script on Bama and making them second best in the state, if he can do it. He also may be heir apparent to Saban, great friends with him, and be waiting on that to open up.I do too, and it's plumb idiotic. Bad decision for him, but just like other coaches we are familiar with, they'll damn sure do it, against all logic.
I just hope the rumors are swirling the most next week. I do not wish to break Jaxon Dart's ankle, but I hope the rest of it plays out like that fateful week for us 5 years ago. Maybe not the dog pee stuff.
The drama of Kiffin leaving Auburn to replace Saban makes me cringe. It's like an early episode of The Office uncomfortable. I'd seriously be worried for him and his family.Seems like he will get a lot more money to put up with similar levels of booster crazy/interference and do it at a more prestigious school. That NIL crap is overstated. Ultimately we'll all have plenty enough to restore the order that was here before. And Ole Miss (and MSU) can now pay enough to keep coaches, with less expectations, and the same buyouts. This isn't 1998, no real reason to leave Ole Miss to go to Auburn. Why is it a bad decision for him? He makes more $$, longer contract guarantee, and has higher NIL structure.
He can get much, much more guaranteed money from Auburn. Ole Miss can compete with AAV, but can't go more than four years. That NIL crap is overstated. If he sticks around, he'll probably land one of the jobs he really wants, which is Texas or Miami. Maybe even Florida. Guarantee you Mullen probably wishes he'd stuck around now, and picked a different location for his jump, that would suit him more.

We can objectively say that he's a good fit for Auburn. He's a better coach than the last two who have won big there. Is Kiffin's resume really so good that once storied programs with delusions of future grandeur are salivating over him that much? I just don't think he is all that and a bag of chips really.
I'm not that scared of Kiffin. He's a good coach, but not someone to be feared. He had an 'up' year last year and still got throttled by the elite team on the schedule and lost a road game he should have won. Those players were recruited by Luke, and even he benefitted from Sloppy's bad recruiting. 2019 class was just ridiculous. Then this liberal use of the transfer portal reminds me a lot of Jackie's liberal use of the JUCOs. Suffice to say, it's risky, but hey, he did it well so credit to him.If this happens, Cohen should go down at the best AD in MSU history.
Yes.Is Kiffin's resume really so good that once storied programs with delusions of future grandeur are salivating over him that much? I just don't think he is all that and a bag of chips really.
Totally disagree with the first statement. He'd be a terrible fit there, Malzahn-esque at best. Much better fit at Ole Miss, so while I don't fear him, he would definitely be a big loss for them.We can objectively say that he's a good fit for Auburn. You can be wrong if you want to. Doesn't matter to me.Totally disagree with the first statement. He'd be a terrible fit there, Malzahn-esque at best. Much better fit at Ole Miss, so while I don't fear him, he would definitely be a big loss for them.
That's a solid point that from an emotional level I've never understood. I can't imagine jumping STATE'S Ship as an AD or HC when I'm already earning much more money than I care to spend while simultaneously creating generational wealth.Yeah it’s the right business decision and I would say that even if he was our coach. The difference in money is generational wealth levels. We’re talking 20 maybe even 50 million dollars more than he can get at OM. There are few circumstances where anyone turns that down.
They will lose to Arkansas and get banged up, probably lose a few more to injury. They know their coach is gone, and a few players like Judkins know he is leaving. They will be demoralized.I'm not that scared of Kiffin. He's a good coach, but not someone to be feared. I honestly think we probably beat them in Oxford. Just not seeing how they are that much better than us, and we are going to have the motivation. The team that brings the pain will win the Egg Bowl, no matter the location.
We both got smoked in Baton Rouge, the difference in Kentucky and Alabama was the home field. And they played Vanderbilt rather than Georgia. Arkansas will play them close Saturday, but again, difference is home field. I see two fairly equal teams.
I would not fear Kiffin at Auburn either.
Dart has not been impressive like Judkins. However, based on the most current Auburn QB's Dart would be an upgrade to them.Ole Miss is screwed. Auburn definitely will get Judkins and a few other recruits and players. Dart will have to sit out a year but is free to transfer and play at another school then auburn, that will be interesting to watch.
Auburn is a smart move for him, they are a much better program than Ole Miss. He can win a title there, you can’t win a title at Ole Miss.
Dart may follow Kiffin, but Lane won’t have a hard time getting a qb. He can get a big recruit or go throgh the portal with auburn nil money.Dart has not been impressive like Judkins. However, based on the most current Auburn QB's Dart would be an upgrade to them.
If I'm wrong on this (which we won't know for like 3 years), I'll be sure to step in here to eat my crow. Unlike you, who will disappear from the board for 6 months. You can be wrong if you want to. Doesn't matter to me.

You've already got about 15 years worth of crow around here to eat. You'll ultimately just end up with another user name.If I'm wrong on this (which we won't know for like 3 years), I'll be sure to step in here to eat my crow. Unlike you, who will disappear from the board for 6 months.
I want it announced Tunsil-style about 3 hours before kick-off. Somebody in the UM athletic dept drops it on Le Batard and he goes full send.Following those "in know," sounds like some are laying the groundwork that Auburn's NIL will be the deciding factor. And you can also see Ole Miss scrambling to build up their war chest over next two weeks.
It'll be a kick in the nuts for OM. Basically telling them "there's no way a coach can win big here". Their fragile egos may not be able to take it.Why is it a bad decision for him? He makes more $$, longer contract guarantee, and has higher NIL structure.
It’s not just about ego, their product on the field is going to be bad for a few years. This will devastate their program. I doubt they get the next hire right either. Oh well, we could use another Vandy on our schedule. It'll be a kick in the nuts for OM. Basically telling them "there's no way a coach can win big here". Their fragile egos may not be able to take it.
Who do you see out there with a better resume? He's always had a reputation as a great play designer and play caller. Is Kiffin's resume really so good that once storied programs with delusions of future grandeur are salivating over him that much? I just don't think he is all that and a bag of chips really.
Nah, that's Bo Bounds thinking. What makes him a “fit” or “not a fit” at either school? He’s a football coach. If the money is right and the opportunity to win bigger than his current gig is there, he’ll make himself a fit anywhere.
