I will often post stuff just about MSU baseball. I love baseball. I did not play college but by reading my posts, you will see that I know what I am talking about. Now, as for this years Diamond Dawgs. I have been to several of the scrimmages. We have a solid team this year. Wes Rea has had a hot bat in the last few scrimmages (some singles and a double) and he even scored all the way from first tonight. His weight loss has made him much much better. Renfroe went yard with a absolute bomb tonight as well. Frost and Britton have improved their offense as well. They are contact hitters but at least they aren't striking out all the time. So far, Mitch Slauter hasn't soldiered yet. I know that was a problem of his in the tournament last year. Infield is very nice. We are at least two deep at every pos. Norris/Hann @ 3rd, Frazier/Britton/Frost @SS, Pirtle/Britton/Frost @ 2nd, and Rea/Porter @ 1st. I have seen all of them play the positions and any given one of em could start and do well. Pirtle is a very good player from TX. Small but fast and makes excellent contact. In the outfield, we still have Henderson as an option but from what I've seen, Derrick Armstrong has done much better than him. And Armstrong can also hit well. Several balls that should have been gap doubles were hit that Armstrong camped out under due to his excellent acceleration and speed. I believe the Defense should look like this: Rea, Pirtle, Frazier, Norris on the INF, and Robson (other canadian, also good contact hitter), Bradford (who is looking awesome and healthy), and Renfroe. Pitching wise, Trevor Fitts, Chad Girodo, Pollorena, Evan Mitchell, and Will Cox have been very impressive in the scrimmages. Cox threw a no hitter through 5 innings before he was pulled the other day. Also, Norris, and Bradford have pitched a good bit and looked very good for fielders. Bradford can sling it for a guy his size. Cohen says that several of the Pos players will be used as relief pitchers this year. Also Wes Stokes (A West Lauderdale/MCC product) has looked decent. His dad told me he is red shirting though. We are loaded in every aspect of the game. Haven't really seen many problems with general offense. I just know we should be tops in the country with stolen bases and Hit by pitches this year. Should be a great season. Glad to answer any questions.

How's Woodruff and his elow?

I haven't seen woodruff at the ones I have been at. I know some other pitchers that have pitched that I didn't mention are Bracewell, Lindgren, Ross Mitchell, a walk on named Anthony Anello, Preston Brown, Graveman, JM Shelly. They have all done ok except for Anello. When I hear something on Woodruff I'll post it

Wes Rea losing all that weight when he could have been a great, great OT makes me angry.

I'm glad Pirtle is doing well. Good guy.

I mean, he struck out alot by not pulling the trigger. He has gotten better at swinging at close ones. So far, none of the guys have struck out hardly any.

It comes and goes. He drilled a hard flat liner to CF the other day on a breaking ball. But he also half swung at one in the dirt. It could go either way.

How has Demarcus Henderson looked? He came on strong in SEC tourny. Will he be a key this year in the outfield?

He has looked ok at the plate. So far just the typical bunt him over or try to beat a bunt out. Not really producing many hits as of now. In four scrimmages I have seen him miss two fly balls.

How are Cody Brown and Myles Gentry from the Coast doing? Where do u c them this year?

TJC

Haven't seen Brown play alot in the field yet but he is an outfielder. He has just been hitting so far and has done pretty decent. I could see him as a pinch hitter in certain situations.

Myles Gentry is a pitcher. I've seen him pitch once so far but he was very solid. Pitched a good one. As a freshman, might be a mid week guy or a redshirt this year. He'll be good though

asked to be an volunteer assistant on your high school's JV team?

No I was NOT! I was a starter all four years of high school, (I have a ring to prove it), played for two very well known and respected coaches, and wasn't big enough to play college ball. That's all
