Cohen's win last night ties Polk's wins last year.

Cohen - 23-26 (currently)
Polk - 23 -33

And being that we will play at most 5 more games then Cohen will have at worst an 23 - 31 ,so he has already sealed a better winning percentage than Polk.

I am not trying to stir a pot just merely giving facts

that when you have a team known for not getting out of the way, it may give the opposing pitchers less access to the inside of the plate... could be one of the reasons for more production offensively this year...

Last season was the 2nd worst season in MSU history by 1 game (that 'unexpected' win vs Arkansas in the last series of the season kept it from being the worst).

To be anywhere close to last season is a disappointment--I expected a better 2009 season. However, we are down on personnel and I'm still confident that Cohen will bring us up quickly.

I was at the game Saturday. The UM fans don't seem very knowledgeable of baseball, and are quick to turn on their team/coaches. On a long single, a Reb player rounded 1st and was thrown out at 2nd base. A UM fan on the 3rd base line started calling out the 3rd base coach, yelling really loudly, "Hey, Number 3! That was on you!". Normally a coach wouldn't acknowledge a comment like that, but the guy was so wrong that the coach just turned around an gave the fan a look like, "you idiot". Then the coach started talking/joking with our 3rd baseman and the umpire there--I think they were laughing at the fan.

I think it's because we are more aggressive at the plate and actually try to attack the ball instead of trying to work a walk all the time. And heck, we still take too many called strike three's for my liking, so I'm hoping that gets better.

I do think that the threat of our guys leaning in helps because if a pitcher is going to throw a pitch inside, I'm pretty sure that the threat of us taking one for the team has to cross his mind.
