with Shumpert's commitment.

And they still have Jones listed as a 4 star. Expected to move up to a 5 star soon.

Has 247 updated our ranking yet? Was Shumpert a 4 star on their site?

I think it's fair to say we won the MS recrootin battle of 2013....

6 of the Dandy Dozen to their 5 (assuming Conner and Moore sign with them), and then add Chris Jones on top of that. For you sensitive rebels, I said we won the battle, I did not say we dominated. We've got 3 'diamond in the rough' types from MS and they got 2. Bouldin and Johnson didn't even make the All-Star team. Buchanan obviously just isn't as great as advertised. So maybe we did dominate more than I thought. Seeing how Jones really should be in the DD over Jordan.

They are definitely winning out of state, at least based on stars. We actually have some good out of state prospects ourselves. We might actually end up with the better class even if Nkemdiche signs with them.

Edited: Speaking of MS recruiting, I saw where Dylan Bradley committed to Southern Miss. Does this make anyone nervous, seeing how he played in the MS/AL game and knowing we play them in 2 years? With one time at their place? A guy like that with his stinger out for being passed over could wreak havoc. Wish we'd offer him.

Shumpert is a 4 star on 247, but either they haven't updated the ranking or for some reason he only moved us up a few spots compared to how far we dropped when we lost Moore; 23 to 20 if I remember our previous ranking right. I guess that's probably because there have been a lot of commits from previously undecided recruits to other schools in the last few weeks.

He can't do it by himself, but he was a solid pick up for them. I agree, I wish we had offered him. He's the type of player that, while undersized, could become a NFL talent at USM. We don't have a lot of room left though...

I'm one who doesnt, except to say

that if the kid conforms to fit our team needs this fall, then he's certainly capbable of making an impact.

I'm more concerned about how we approach the fall with an offensive philosophy that we are best at. Most importantly, coaching.

I hope Ashton plays safety. We needed better coverage there this past fall. I see he's good at break away speed, but I'll bet he's just as good at ball hawking. Safety is that place. Move him to corner if the situation arises (meaning we can fill his shoes). But the fact is that we suffered this year without great safety athleticism.

ON offense, we just need a kid that can be an every down tough hole runner with the ability to catch passes. That should have been Perkins role.
