Project that was supposed to take 3 months was finished in 2 weeks. Kind of makes you wonder if it was done right or if corners were cut.
Hopefully they just found less problems than expected. Or maybe they decided to skip the study on the impact of the project on the migration patterns of three-toed newts?

I travel that way to go up to family farm. The last time they shut it down a few years ago they did piece mill. They closed it for a few weeks then reopened for a few weeks then closed again. It then was supposed to be closed for a few month during that event. Probably what they are doing this time to keep the natives happy. Side note: If you are traveling from Rankin County to West Jackson don't look up at the stack when you go under it. You will never cross that bridge again. They have ripped big gaps out of the sides down to underneath the bridge working on it. They do have temporary supports but it sure does look really unstable.

My guess. They really thought the project would take 2 months but announced 3 to give some slack. Then there may have been performance bonuses for early completion, so the contractor worked double shifts 7 days a week. That could turn a 2 month project into 3 weeks. Or, like Glory Dawg says, maybe they're opening the bridge during stages of the project that it doesn't absolutely have to be closed for. Because it is a huge problem for people to re-route when that bridge is out.
