just look at what our defense could look like next year and theyear afterwith just MS players assuming we get CJ and/or Whitehead.

DT: Fletcher Cox, Josh Boyd, Devin Jones, Josh Jackson, PJ Jones, Curtis Virges
DE: Kaleb Eulls, Corvell Harrison-Gay, Trevor Stigers
LB: CJ Johnson?, Deontae Skinner, Cam Lawrence, Dee Arrington, Christian Holmes, Mike Hunt
CB: Whitehead?, Johnthan Banks, Jamerson Love, Jay Hughes, Damien Anderson, Justin Cox
S: Nickoe Whitley, Charles Mitchell, Wade Bonner, Dennis Thames, Matt Wells, Zac Johnson

DE might be a little weak, but there is a lot of good talent on the defense just from Mississippi. Dan is getting these guys from MS and is turning them into very solid players. I see possibly 4 All SEC players on our defense from MS. Cox, Boyd, Mitchell, and possibly Banks. Guys from Mississippi can come to MSU and be successful long term. Sherrod and KJ have done it and have the opportunity to be solid NFL guys. Dan is getting guys in here that can contribute and is turning our program into a successful one by using the in state talent.

ETA: This doesn't even include the MS guys on offense thatwill or already have made an impact. Bumphis, Clark, Russell, Perkins, Ballard, Griffin, Robert Johnson, Carr, and Green at the skill positions. On the OL: Damien Robinson, Quentin Saulsberry, Gabe Jackson, and Tobias Smith. There is a bright future for a lot of our Mississippi recruits. </p>

the issue is they are often underdeveloped compared to some other states as they enter college. They just don't get the quality of coaching and conditioning as some others have had overall. That's where Mullen and his staff are thriving as I am seeing them do extremely well in developing the talent available both from a physical standpoint (Balis) and from a football fundamentals standpoint and getting players to improve each year. Nutt and crew, not so much.

Even if we don't get the guys from South Panola and Madison Central, we have made a lot of strides at those two schools and have caused Ole Miss to spend a lot of time and energy to keep recruits that they "expected" to get anyway. That would be like us having to put a lot of resources into guys at West Point.

But I do like the fact that we are getting Mississippi guys because if we get a ton of guys from Alabama- those are Alabama and Auburn back-up plans, all the while we're missing out on the "next Walter Payton". Fact is, a lot of these players from Mississippi are great athletes, and many are under the radar- like the guys from Wilkinson County.

But you get those players, you put them in a really good strength and conditioning program, and then you coach them on fundamentals and make sure that they are really well coached and disciplined, and then you go out and kick *** and have fun! Rinse and repeat next year.

I also like the fact that we have a coach that can develop a QB for the first time in my life. What Dan has done with Relf is a minor miracle. What's going to happen when he gets someone that is further along than Relf?

Hevesey is also great because he can put out a strong o-line. If you have a good QB and a good o-line, you just need some good atheltes like Perkins and Bumphis, and you just put the ball in their hands and let them use their speed and athleticism.

I also love the defensive scheme because here again, Dan has a great d-line coach. Linebackers and safeties are very similar to athletes in Mississippi- they're kind of dime a dozen because there are plenty of guys that can run and love to hit people in Mississippi. I agree that CJ Johnson is special, but when was the last time we had bad linebackers? TJ Mawhinney? Corners are tough for anybody to find, but we have a defensive scheme that allows us to use our strength- which is people that can run and want to take the QB's head off- and that pressure that they generate allows us to take pressure off of our corners.

And then play solid special teams.

If you notice, Dan has placed an emphasis on every aspect of the team. Bill Walsh is my favorite football coach of all time, and that was one thing that I noticed about his philosophy- that everyone was an extension of each other. In other words, you may have a great QB, but if the o-line isn't blocking, or you have bad skill people, or your defense is horrible and you're always behind, well, your QB isn't as effective. And you can go throught the other groups of a football team and apply that as well.

They seem to be proud of being able to go get guys from Florida now, and California when Orgeron was there. If we win 8 to 11 games a year for the next 10years and continue to beatTSUNwith adecent portion of our talent being 2, 3, and 4 star Mississippi kids, I will be more than happy. Truth is it will take a while for us to build a national repore with recruits, so we have to stay in this area. We have to evaluate and find the good, overlooked talent in Mississippi to build our depth.

We will be able to get guys from out of state. Corey Broomfield, Brandon Heavens, Dak Prescott are just a few. But the bulk and the core of our team right now and for a while will be with Mississippi guys.

I do like how we are making a push into Georgia though. There is a lot of talent there, and usually only Georgia is the consistently good team in that state. Auburn made a living off of Georgia recruits for a while, and I think we can build our depth by doing the same. We need to keep Preston Smith on because Stone Mountain puts out some good players. Barron Dixon is another from Georgia, and Xzavier Ward and David Washington are both from Georgia andarecoming on a visits.

I love this. I do also think that an additional problem with MS kids is the education they receive while in h.s. Hell, how much MS talent is lost because of not qualifying or having to go to JC/prep school? Hopefully Mullen can help influence/push for changes. "Pie in the sky" I know...
