Regardless, Eicohrst's two hires at Nebraska don't have the best of results so far.

"Almost every team" didn't include Nebraska until very recently. I was completely embarrassed to watch Husker basketball before Miles, we looked like a freakin' high school team. I actually see players with basketball talent now. If you have Bill Self all lined up by all means fire the guy otherwise let it play out.

No offense but there really isn't any difference in results. The level of expectation is so skewed when it come to men's basketball. Moral victories and better talent are acceptable and in some cases revered.

As far as level of play, Miles' teams have a tendency of playing to the level of the opponent. That is how they can lose to Incarnate Word and Gardner-Webb at home and beat Maryland on the road. Sometime high school level sometimes much better.

So if you have better talent than your predecessors but the same record that can only point to one thing. (Other than the youth, refs, and schedule excuses)

With regards to Bill Self, at one point he was a coach at Oral Roberts and then Tulsa. Finding 38 year old Bill Self should be something that can be done.

Tim Miles is popular, he's a "midwestern guy" and has won with Nebraska kids on his roster at CSU. Plus he was hired by Osborne.

I'm definitely not in the We-gotta-keep-Miles-or-it's-the-end-of-the-world camp, but if he's assembled a staff that can recruit, that's a big point in his favor. I don't care who closes the deal, as long as the player ends up in Lincoln.

Miles deserves major credit for hiring and keeping Coach Hunter so far. The question is, how much longer do you think Hunter will stick around, especially with Miles on the hot seat? If Hunter leaves after this season, the staff becomes average at best. Don't see many big-time recruiters wanting to fill that position knowing there is a good chance the head coach is in his last season.

Interesting, not giving up on his first hire just not what I expected but I've been cautiously optimistic especially the way he inherited Peelini cancer.

His hire for the Women's Basketball Coach has been brutal.

Admittedly, I don't follow women's basketball very closely, but hard to see how any coach would step into the situation (players revolting, star player quits team, previous coach had half the squad on her side and half against it) and be successful right away.

We have to assume this was basically an implosion season and basically restarting everything, so I have a hard time holding the current women's coach responsible for this year.

Meh, doesn't concern me one bit with everything that was going on at Miami and Penn State (rumored to be) going after Golden. Eichorst didn't hire him, and with Miami not disclosing their NCAA issues during the Golden hiring process - only to find out a few months later what's going on (same with Eichorst) - to repeat, it doesn't concern me.

As I said, there are articles that say she made the hire & others say he made the hire. There are also articles that say "Eichorst made the hire with Shalala's blessing". On top of that, there are also articles saying once Shalala struck out on Amaker (sp?), the heat and sole focus was put on Larranaga. IMO, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who did what in the process, or I should say who had the final say in hiring, but that's just my opinion.

So all of those teams are currently ahead of Nebraska in the standings. All return a significant amount of players. Tell me again why we should expect different results in 2017-18?

What about Michigan and Wisconsin? Or Illinois and Rutgers?

Big difference in 7 freshmen/sophomores in a rotation compared to 7 sophomores/juniors in a rotation. Glynn and Ed both doubled up their production from year one to two. Jack increased his as well, with a more defined role. Michael is Michael however, with the emergence of Jordy and addition of Copeland, it relieves minutes from him.

Pretty simple, none of those 4 were mentioned in the "great breakdown" from the OWH, that's why.

I don't have a hatred for Miles. I just don't believe he is the basketball coach that is going to get Nebraska to the next level.

Michigan and Iowa state have coaches who make the NCAA more often than not. We have a coach who is about to have his 4th losing season in 5 years and has never won a postseason game at the D-I level. Going off of history, I can bet on which coaches will probably be back in the NCAA tournament next year and which one won't.

Perhaps no difference in record but a vast difference in being competitive. I think I've seen every game and we've been competitive in every game except a couple. Moral victories? Hell no but man this team is young and will DEFINITELY get a lot better as young players mature, especially Roby and Jordy. I'm excited, if we can play teams this competitively with puppies wait until they are weaned.

As far as reasons to like Miles I think you are too critical, I'm willing to give him the next 2 years minimum because he has succeeded at every level. That is the huge fact you ignore, I could care less he is from South Dakota. As far as finding a young Self that is what rolling the dice with Miles was all about.

None of that makes a difference, if allowed another season he'll either produce or he's gone, it's simple as that. We can argue returning production till we're blue in the face, it's irrelevant as there are plenty of examples on both sides. I believe NU will dance next season with Miles, and from the day he was hired said I'd give him 6 years.

I was here back then and there wasn't any excuses in 2014-2015 and there won't be any now, for that season or this current one; they've underperformed but have 6-8 games left to change that. When Miles was hired I was on the 6-year opportunity and I'm not gonna change it now. I see our 7 current underclassmen making large jumps in to next season, all were recruited by Miles, and feel it's right to give him a chance to coach this group one more season as we'll have the most experience ever under his watch.

Yes, Sparty and Iowa have coaches that make the dance often. And both are struggling this year. Why is that?!? Uh oh, you're gonna have to admit something...

I couldn't care less who the coach is a season from now. If Shawn moves on, great, if he doesn't great. Our season tickets will be renewed regardless.

Question is; Where do we make up ground? Those teams are getting better just like we are. The B1G is weak this year, and here we are sitting at sitting at 12th in conference at 4-8.

I keep the faith, but not too sure about Miles.

Morrow injury costed us some losses( maybe Michigan @ tOSU) and the cramp game against Rutgers falling behind early but yet coming back and the last 2 positions in the final minute falls in the hands of Tai Webster..

This team could be easily 6-6 in conference play, but let's see what happens moving forward, making up ground would be winning our next 2 games against Penn St and a beatable Bucknut team at home.
