For those who worry about all the 2stars State is recruiting.

And for the rebel lurkers who have said State is recruiting a bunch of nobodies. Rivals Southeast recruiting analyst Keith Niebuhr said that several of the current MSU two-star commitments could be bumped up in the next rankings that come out next month. Named Adairius Barnes, Torrey Bell and Frederick Brown. Liked what he saw from them at BDC.

...at some time during their senior years, if not sooner. Our coaches aren't a bunch of fools; they do this for a living. If they see enough of something in someone to offer him a scholarship, then the player has something that will benefit our team. Plain and simple. We're not going to "fill spots" this early in the game, if at all.

I mean, I look at stars and see where guys are rated, but I just think it is hilarious that EVERY SINGLE TIME we land a guy that is a 2 star, there are multiple posts on GP or Rivals asking if/when they are going to get a bump. Then you will have multiple "analysts" come to the rescue to say there is in fact going to be a bump. Does it make you feel any better that they are magically 3 stars at that point?<div>

You know those players get faster, stronger, and more athletic when they get that star bump. It's important.

before signing day. Player A is still Player A regardless of how many stars are beside his name on a website. But some State fans have complained about the low ranking commits. And the recruiting analyst specifically said that he liked what he saw at camp.

then I want that kid. I suspect part of the reason for these star bumps that are coming is the recruiting "analysts" are suddenly thinking that if a successful coach like Mullen wants to sign the kid, then maybe I better reevaluate my 2-star ranking.

are players either signed or committed by Croom. I give credit to Mullen for hanging on to Cox and Boyd and the rest of that class, but Croom committed most of them. When you look at the roster, most of the hidden gems that turned into good players are Crooms.. Bottom line, Croom proved he could evaluate, he just couldn't coach them up. Mullen can coach, it remains to be seen if he can evaluate. .

I don't think stars are final rule of talent or potential but, they are usually an indicator of potential. When a 2 star that we signed gets bumped up, I don't think he just got faster but I assume that the rating services are finally seeing what the coach's saw long ago. Again, stars are just indicators. You don't see many traditional powerhouse schools filled with 2 star players and you don't see many 2 - 10 teams filled with 4 and 5 star players.
