Texas and Texas A&M facing right off the bat in Houston and Louisville and Kentucky in the same regional?

Those regionals just became even more interesting

For the record, I would welcome the opportunity for MSU to go up to Oxford and allow Ole Miss to remain at home. I don't subscribe to avoiding rivals (or any other teams, for that matter).

Why would they host? No chance in hell they could outbid us. They don't take RPI or anything into account in that situation.

The MSU

fanbase would lose their **** if we lost to OM in a SR. Y'all thought the "fire Cohen" posts were bad now? They wouldn't compare to the aftermath of us losing in Oxford.

One main difference...those games don't have a nonstop ticket to Omaha riding on it. A SR does. That ramps up the stakes about 10,000%.

No way in hell Washington would host if it was us and them. Why would you even think they would?

Probably not. We had a worse RPI than Clemson in 2007 but put in a better bid, so we got to host. I remember the Clemson boards fuming about it.

Of course, that was 7 years ago and you never know what the NCAA might decide, but I think it's extremely unlikely that they would let Washington host instead of us.

My only concern would be that I don't think the NCAA would send Washington (a team that many thought would host) to MS 2 weeks in a row.

As would be expected - if MSU lost. But it'd likely go away quickly.

Of course, imagine the upside if MSU wins.

Either way, the rivalry myth would be enhanced which is good for the program.
