has broadened their offensive scheme this year. Miles hired Billy Gonzales from Florida to be their passing game coordinator and WR coach. After listening to their first few open practice reports it sounds like they will be running some version of the spread as part of their offense. First drill they ran of their first practice was a red zone, five wide spread drill. All WR, TE, and RB's were spread and they were throwing. Also, today they worked on jump balls in the end zone, where 3-5 offensive players all ran to same area, and all but one trying to keep defenders away from WR designated to catch the duck.
Ruben Randle was interviewed after the practice saying, "we're trying to prepare for any and everything that could possible happen to us this year." Guessing this stems from trying to spike the ball with 1 second remaining on the clock. Les has been taking a ton of heat on a daily basis for that Croomesque decision.
I'm sure they will show this against NC in opener but didn't know if our coaches were aware that they were planning on spreading and airing it out as much with JJ at the helm.
That being said, their local sports guy was also making fun of the Defensive Ends. Only one of their four DE's have ever played a snap and the one getting ridiculed is 6'3" 230 lbs. Sports host was laughing and asking how he was gonna get past an offensive lineman to do anything. Peterson and Sheppard are only real notables coming back on D and the O line is a huge question also.
If Dawgs were ever gonna pull one out in death valley, this is the year the stars align.
