has broadened their offensive scheme this year. Miles hired Billy Gonzales from Florida to be their passing game coordinator and WR coach. After listening to their first few open practice reports it sounds like they will be running some version of the spread as part of their offense. First drill they ran of their first practice was a red zone, five wide spread drill. All WR, TE, and RB's were spread and they were throwing. Also, today they worked on jump balls in the end zone, where 3-5 offensive players all ran to same area, and all but one trying to keep defenders away from WR designated to catch the duck.

Ruben Randle was interviewed after the practice saying, "we're trying to prepare for any and everything that could possible happen to us this year." Guessing this stems from trying to spike the ball with 1 second remaining on the clock. Les has been taking a ton of heat on a daily basis for that Croomesque decision.
I'm sure they will show this against NC in opener but didn't know if our coaches were aware that they were planning on spreading and airing it out as much with JJ at the helm.

That being said, their local sports guy was also making fun of the Defensive Ends. Only one of their four DE's have ever played a snap and the one getting ridiculed is 6'3" 230 lbs. Sports host was laughing and asking how he was gonna get past an offensive lineman to do anything. Peterson and Sheppard are only real notables coming back on D and the O line is a huge question also.

If Dawgs were ever gonna pull one out in death valley, this is the year the stars align.

Miles will hire someone to save his ***. Difference between Miles and Mullen? Mullen doesn't 17 up a goal line situation. Tyson Lee does.

And yes I am wooly about Baton Rouge this season. If God is on our side this season we will finally pull the elusive LSU victory out of our Maron and Whit asses

God has never and will never be on our side. We have been cursed since birth except for a couple of runs.

how else would you explain the absolute blessing of having your in-state rival make the worst hire in the history of the SEC?
and second worst in David Cutcliffe?

Godallows you to go to NCAA basketball tournaments and dominate your in-state rival in that sport. God gives you Egg Bowls in Starkville, Relf, Super Bulldog weekend and a very nice Hilton Garden Inn.

with Cutcliffe and his classes were solid, not great, but solid. The 2008 Cotton Bowl was on the backs of Michael Oher and Peria Jerry, two guys Orgeron had very little to do with. Last year Dexter McCluster was the centerpiece of our success and David Saunders had to begOrgeron to sign him. Orgeron no doubt brought in some spectacular players like Kentrell Lockett, Marcus Tillman, Cornell, Allen Walker, Jerrell Powe etc. But if you pay close to attention to recruiting and value the ranking system, Nutt has had comparable classes.

I know you find this hard to believe, but it really isn't a miracle that UM made it to three Cotton Bowls this decade. And it really wouldn't be that tough for you guys to do it as well. It is all makingdecent hiresand staying committed.

Orgeron's recruiting is overrated, look at his 2007 class for an example but he did sign one bad *** class that graduated last year. You can call him a terrible coach and still give him credit for that. Cutcliffe was nowhere near our 2nd worst hire. He had his flaws, as all coaches do, but he wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination.

the school, theprogram, and previous hiredeservemuch of the credit for whatever successtheschoolhas despite who the current coach happens to be. Les Miles is a horrific coach but because the program has such solid footing and appeal he has managed to not look like a total idiot. And he hasnone other than Nick Saban to thank for a lot of that. Tuberville handed Cutcliffe the most talented team UM had in thirty years and he absolutely mangled it in 1999.No knowledge? I watched every game that guy coached, he absolutely botched football games, he had no motivational skills and nogame day coaching abilities.

Cutcliffe was a Johnny Majors, Phillip Fulmer football bureaucrat, he never had and never will have an original thought as it relates to coaching football. Perhaps 2nd worst hire is a little too much, but if you paid attention to UM football during that era you would have to put him in the top ten.

You've obviously forgot about Billy Kinard, Ken Cooper, and Steve Sloan.

And they lost 4 games by a combined 15 points or whatever it was. Just alot of bad luck and average qb play did them in. Cut finished with a winning record every year he was at Ole Miss besides his last. That is easier said than done. I thought it was time to move on when we got rid of him but we completely botched it by hiring Orgeron. We could and have done a whole lot worse than David Cutcliffe. He is nowhere near a top 10 worst coach in SEC history. That list is reserved for people like Orgeron and Croom.

and this guy taking over as pasing OC and Miles himself is an ex-OC. I think he wants to make sure he is seen as being pro-active if things don't improve (let's give him one more year so his new passing game coordinator can work his magic). When you can recruit the kind of talent that LSU can year in, year out, I don't know why you wouldn't favor a traditional offense and great d like Saban does at Bama and Michigan always used to do. Getting gimmicky at LSU just smacks of desperation.

percentage and 2 Cotton Bowl victories vs. Cut's 1. He is also 2-0 vs. LSU and is on the verge of signing three straight outstanding recruiting classes. Cut looks good on paper and he did a good job but he also inherited a lot of talent from Tubby and didn't do a whole lot with it. His last recruiting class was also the worst in modern OM history. I would go Vaught, Nutt, Tubberville, and then Cut.

...I agree with what the record reveals about Nutt. The record never skews reality in favor of somebody trying to win an Internet ***** fight (just ask coach34).

is that David Cutcliffe is the reason they signed Eli Manning.

Also, no one has mentioned that Cutcliffe has done a pretty decent job at Duke.

The fact that a BCS school- even if it is Duke- would hire the guy shows that he was not one of the two worst hires in their history, or whatever the guy said.

Ole Miss fans constantly feel that they have to defend Cutcliffe's firing because they were raked over the coals by the media. And the reason that they had to fire O was because no one else would take the job after they crapped out on Dennis Erickson.

Cutcliffe had them closer to the SEC Title game than Nutt has to this point. Bad coaches that get lucky don't do that. Bad coaches that get lucky might end up in the Liberty Bowl, but that's about it.

I will never take a post you put up about football seriously again again reading that completely moronic statement.

Your cred is shite.

Croom was the worst. Shula was second worst.

Bama was screwed either way they went.

Now I think of it , Price has to be in the top 3 worst hires ever.

The only thing really holding state back from winning games like this is the issue concerning players that will show up on a consistence basis. Last year AD and even Tyson were 2 players that showed up to play every saturday, but this year i dont really see a player that can do that.
