Last year I made the game but not New Year's Eve. This year I'm coming down on Monday, and have the option of making it to The Landing for the festivities, or staying out in a hotel on the sand at Jacksonville Beach.
I've seen the overcrowding horror stories about last year's alumni event, but not much from folks who stayed elsewhere.
Should I brave the crowds near the river, or enjoy food and drink near the beach?
The more specific the recommendations, the better.

The Alumni party was packed last time, but will be at a different location this year.... For me the crowd is what made the last party suck. The Landing is a much bigger place and plenty of room to roam.... Plus they have a big *** screen for games and what not.

*side note - notice how the maroon white fight fight fight is not rushed. Simply amazing.

WTF is wrong with the Maroon/White Cheer these days. Why oh why does the student section speed the damn thing and sound shitastic. Don't say it has do do with acoustics. I sat RIGHT NEXT to the student section this year and there is no doubt. The dubmasses don't know how to do the 17'n cheer. How do they screw up something so incredibly simple. Who is responsible for teaching these dimwits this crap?

Sounded so nice at the egg bowl - first time this year we had a decent group of people doing it all in unison.
