I would hope so. This would get him out of North Stokes where he has literally done the very best that he could do with that program.
Tough school to have all that much success at and has pretty much always been the Yadkin Co. little brother to Starmount. Not sure when Forbush last had a very successful season - meaning they won at least a couple of playoff games.
The spring of 2020 they went 6-1 (losing in first round) and in 2021, they beat North Surry in the first round . Before that it looks like 2004 was the last time they won a playoff game (but then lost in 2nd round).
Tried to do some digging so I may have missed a year but it looks like besides what is above, they won first round playoffs in 2003 & 1992, but lost in the second round each time. So it looks like they have only won a couple first round playoff games and never been past the second round.
Yeah, I figured their football program has never really done that much. So this is an uphill climb for any new coach. There is clearly talent in Yadkin Co. given Startmount's success. Not sure why Forbush can't be better in football.
Forbush can be better .. if they could recruit & keep some good players it would help ! Kids can easily jump to Davie, West forsyth or starmount ..
Can a kid that that lives in Yadkin Co. just up and go to a school in another county?? That doesn't seem right.
Years ago all you had to do was get a po box in another town in yc .. I know a great basketball player who lives in yc & recruited by 4A school & the parents are paying for the player to be in another county/ school .. only a couple hundred bucks

I believe that the best returning player from Forbush is at MA.
Yes. He tried to transfer to Starmount for his senior year and Forbush blocked the transfer. He now commutes to MA.
How is that allowed? A kid going to MAHS that doesn't even live in Surry Co? That definitely isn't right. Especially if it is all football related and in no way academic related.

No, I'm not trying to beat a dead horse and was not aware of the other thread. Stuff like this bugs me because it makes the job at Forbush even tougher if they have talented players running out on their teammates and not willing to put in the work to be part of building something.There's a thread somewhere about it. That was different. Watch his dad's interview. The for bush students weren't exactly treating him right. Who knows maybe he ran through all those neck girls to fast. What was stupid was yadkin county's rule. People from Forsyth county are moving into yadkin county. Get away from the horse crap that is Forsyth county. They should have a good football team. And Jeremy fortner would deserve a shot at that. Although I do think funderburk was a really good football coach. Actually he was a really good football coach. If fortner goes to forbush. For Bush will look more like Starmount at least offensively than Starmount does.
In regards to the dad .. who knows if this story was true or not ! I personally know several students there & they said it wasn't true fwiw ...bush can be competitive with a good hire & able to keep the good players around

Yes I had heard the same thing. Surry Central is now going to be open also. Curious to see if Funderburke applies for SC.
