Attracts terrible behavior. They were terrible in 2002 for the US Open. NY got a complete pass from the media. Had it been a course down south or out West, media would have excoriated the host course/natives.
Basically, Just like Rory at us Open. You have to allow them to calm down and maybe sometimes it is best even when it doesn’t look the best.
I will give Scottie credit for walking over and talking to Euro team leaders at conclusion of his match after everyone had cleared the green.
I do think that Rosie can get a little snarky at times and that was probably a big part of what happened.
I agree that these matches have become way too testy and both sides have contributed. Seve changed it and it’s taken a very unfortunate turn since then.
It’s kinda ironic that they have starting giving out the Jack/Tony award when very few players seem to exhibit those principles in these matches anymore.
They were done after Friday alternate shot but I thought they were done as soon as the Captain’s choices were finalized.
Rose can definitely get snarky. I’ve never really rooted “against” him (excluding the Ryder Cup of course) but it’s no secret that he’s got a douche side to him. You learn a lot about people when they are in competitions like this. But it’s also not fair to judge someone on the limited view that we get on TV.
Speaking of Seve, one of the most ridiculous things about the Ryder Cup is the over the top fawning over that guy.
Hovland gets 1/2 point for being injured? Can some of our guys fake an injury so the final score isn’t so embarrassing?

The fan behavior is a disgrace. Both Keegan and the PGA of America should be calling it out. We can cheer our guys on without acting like idiot drunk frat bros.
Rory sinks a 35 foot putt to halve a hole with Scottie. That putt was undoubtedly a result of the togetherness and the selflessness of this European team. Oh, and the genius of captain Luke Donald.

I was there a couple of days ago. I expected rowdiness, but a lot of the behavior I saw was just plain gross. Even the lady comedian they trotted out early each morning to fire up the crowd had to apologize and stepped down from her job after getting on the mic and encouraging a "F*** you, Rory!" chant. I thought going in that the over-corporatization of the event (tickets were $1,000 each per tournament day) would keep most of the people who behave badly away, but I was wrong.
From a viewer's perspective, the rowdiness detracts from the show. NBC should step in and put pressure on the PTB to stop this nonsense. NBC will get their attention.
