If the bracket unfolds as expected, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas will all have made the playoffs in their new conference. Texas won the SEC in its first year. Oklahoma makes the playoffs in its second year.

Meanwhile Nebraska is on their 4th coach in their conference and still struggling to win in the conference.

A&M has 5 9+ win seasons, including 2 11+, and 12 bowl games since joining the SEC in 2012.
Missouri has 4 10+ win seasons and 10 bowl games. They left the Big 12 when we did.

Nebraska has 4 9 win seasons (3 with Bo) and 1 10-win season (also Bo’s) and 7 bowl games (4 with Bo) since 2011.

Why are we struggling to figure this out?!

All those teams have much richer recruiting grounds in their 500 mile radiuses. If you added up all the talent in NE, IA, MO,KS,MN, IL, and the Dakotas you still wouldn’t have half the HS talent in TX.

While I think NU should be a top 15 program with their revenue and resources, I don’t think those three programs are a fair comparison.

Nebraska will never be a top 15 program. Those days are long gone. Top 30 potentially. Top 20, NO!!

The people in charge have failed the people, the state, the student-athletes, and all stakeholders. It's embarrassing and shameful but they got rich so they don't see it that way.

NIL was supposed to counteract that.

Or not.

Nebraska got lucky and hired one great coach - who hired another great coach that took advantage of several benefits - a national championship program, weak conference to stack up years of wins, great long term assistants, unique S&C with roids, partial qualifiers, unlimited walk on, talent over character before the #metoo movement, less parity, no playoff system, no conf championship games, etc..

TO knew what he was doing when he gracefully exited at the top when most all these things were changing. The results don’t lie - within 20 years we were a bottom tier conference pushover.

I don't believe we will stay bottom tier forever - we can work our way back up to Minnesota, Iowa, Iowa State and K State levels - but it will take some effort and time to get that done. Once we get to that level, then we should thank our lucky stars that we are no longer the conference doormat and we can be like Minnesota and brag about national championships that happened half a century ago.

Nebraska has been in a weak *** conference for 15 years.....

What’s Iowa top 30 or 40? Hopefully Kirk stays healthy well into his 70’s because Iowa is going to revert back to the days before Frye.
Top 25 most years with occasional top 15. Why do you think Iowa will…revert back to the days before Hayden Fry, after Ferentz retires? The Iowa football culture will remain the same.

What conference could Nebraska compete in now? The MAC, WAC, Missouri Valley, or the Big Sky Conference?
Don’t you have to help change out your sister’s tampon for the week? Christ sakes you inbred hicks are obsessed.

I’ve never been to your board, I have no desire to. I imagine your thread topics range from how do I install a satellite dish on my trailer to what lube should I use to a$$ **** my sister.

Since you haven’t changed coaches in decades you would not know this, but culture changes immediately under a new coach. Unless you promote from within with a coach dedicated to keeping it exactly the same. Look at Wisconsin since Fickell arrived. Look
At Indiana since Cignetti arrived there. You think the culture at Penn State will stay the same??? Their AD sure as hell hopes it doesn’t.

Few will agree with me (mostly because of B1G money) but I maintain that the Big 12 would not be viewed as a second tier conference had Nebraska not bolted. They could have still added some decent schools even after Missouri and TAMU left. OU and Texas might still be here as well (nobody really knows).

So many people say, “we left because the Big 12 was falling apart.” But the fact is, we (Nebraska) contributed greatly to that.

The other argument is that Texas was trying to run everything. Now Ohio State and Michigan run everything.

We would be so much better from a recruiting standpoint if we were still in the Big 12 and much happier in the standings.

But yeah, the money.

The Big 12 wanted to add Louisville, but Texas and Oklahoma objected, so they settled on TCU and West Virginia.

I think a lot more would agree with you than you might think. If they're being honest anyway. Pretty much everything has sucked since we left. That's not a coincidence. Not to mention we'd still have some actual real rivalry games.

Not exactly related to the thread but perennially garbage bottom dwellers like VIRGINIA and VANDERBILT are likely to be in the playoffs this year. Shoutout program builder Matt Rhule for his great work. We’re allllmossstttt there. (Sarcasm)

Oh, and Mike Elko is making the playoffs with his pathetic schedule (like Nebraska had this year) in his 2nd season. If Matt Rhule isn’t feeling pressure from the administration and fire to his asscheeks, idk where we go from here. 7-5 is a colossal disappointment and a failure. We’re not just a couple fixes away, a couple players away. Other programs will also be improving. The leaps this program has to take is mountainous compared to where our conference peers currently are. And it’s not like those peers are staying stagnant either.

Which conference peers specifically?

The big 12 is still celebrating your departure. You dickheads have never been popular amongst your peers. Self awareness has never been your strength.

Self awareness? Hahaha you need to look in the mirror with that comment. You hang out on the Nebraska board seeking attention. No one from other schools do that. There are about 3-4 of you Hawkeye fans that carry this inferiority complex

Technically all 17 of them.
I agree all of the other are not being stagnant. Though I disagree that we have far more to do than most of the others. Some of the ones that win the games they do based on solid coaching and execution while have average talent are just a coaching change away from having 3-4 less wins per year, such as Minnesota, Iowa, and Northwestern. UCLA Purdue Maryland Rutgers Wisconsin have just as far as us to go.
from what I’ve seen it really doesn’t take much to get in the 4th-8th place range in the Big Ten, yes easier said than done. It’s not a bash on the Big Ten just saying that the differences in the 4th to 15-16th teams isn’t a huge difference. Things like show up each and every week focused and ready to play the game, be aggressive and don’t make stupid mistakes.

You mean rivalry games you might actually win occasionally?
