If you have an accident while driving drunk, I can have some sympathy for you. But to leave friends of yours there to die without even trying to help them is close to unforgivable.</p>

do something productive instead of paying all that cash to house and feed him for that long.

Though with a 60 year sentence he may only serve 15 anyway.

he is serving them consecutively and not concurrent. Meaning he would serve 51 years before becoming eligible for parole if my math is correct.

This guy took the cell phone that belonged to the girl that died in the wreck right after the accident; to set up his get away from the scene. According to the DA the girl didn't die until later. The girl that was hurt so bad he also left. The guy died on impact. This guy left two people to die to save his own skin; he didn't get enough in my opinion.

He killed one person with his drunk driving. And he killed another with his drunk driving and nobody will know if she would have lived hadn't fled the scene. And one other is lucky to be alive after being left to die like the others.

His stupid mistake of driving drunk cost someone their life. That's one kind of mistake in judgment. Heck, he might have been the most sober one and they all convinced him to drive. But, leaving those people to die -- I don't know how you can get that drunk.

He is a real Teddy Kennedy. </p>

The girl's who cell phone he used was dead ( the jeep landed on her head )

The guy wasnt dead on impact, he died from lying the freezing cold grass in the early hours of a January morning

The other girl is VERY forunate to be alive and she had to battle for her life for 2 months in ICU in Tupelo

The girl who died was a married mother of two little girls

So all the victims and their families were served a life sentence. A life sentence of no son or daughter or wife or mother.

They all were still drinking til around 3 am at Ricks...waiting on the Gaskin boy to finish re stocking the bar so they could ride back roads. The beer they took with them came from Ricks.

They all knew the chance that they were taking by getting in that vehicle. What happened to Crick could have happened to anyone who has ever got behind the wheel after drinking but how he handled the situation coupled with the fact that he is a trained law enforcement officer eventually sealed his fate, whether it be due or un-due justice.

That's sort of the point I was trying to make. Everybody is riding around drunk in his jeep, and he is the one behind the wheel and people die. That's bad. And he has committed a crime. But, I view that entirely different than I view leaving people to die. One was an error in jugment that killed people. The other was a willful act that killed people. I know from a legal standpoing it might not be different. But, it is in my book. Driving drunk and killing people isn't the same to me as putting a gun to someone's head and pulling the trigger. Leaving people for dead is.

That being said, I have had family members hit and hospitalized by a drunk driver, so I have a, hmm, um, veeerrryy low-tolerance for anyone who would drink and drive. I'm a big believer in responsibility in these situations. The guy should go to jail, reimburse the family for ALL medical and funeral costs, andnot be allowed to purchase alcohol EVER again (if he ever gets out of jail).

I'm in favor of the state issuing modified Driver's Licenses to those who have been convicted of DWI and/or DUI. On the license, it should indicate that the holder has been convicted of such and because of that, the holder may not be sold or served alcohol. Every package store and bar in the state ought to be prohibited to sell to such holders. I know it wouldn't keep the folks from getting their beer from a friend, but it would help. I also think those folks ought to be required to have their autos fitted with a device (breath-a-lyzer) that prevents their auto from cranking if they can't blow below the legal limit.

If it a normal drunk driving manslaughter I would say 10. Add the extra time because of what he did.

60 years is beyond ridiculous. Absolutely, positively ridiculous. It serves no purpose. The judge should have set the sentences to run concurrently.
